Effingham won the Newton Eagle Invitational Boys Varsity Track Meet Friday.<\/p>\n

The Hearts tallied 99 followed by Charleston 95, Newton 76, Shelbyville 55, Mattoon 45, Effingham St. Anthony 44, Richland County, Olney 39, Teutopolis 39, Robinson 36.5, Vandalia 36, Altamont 28, Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City 26, Oblong\/Palestine\/Hutsonville 23, Neoga 18.5, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 16, Paris 10, St. John’s Lutheran 10 and Lawrenceville 3.<\/p>\n

Effingham’s Sebastian Simoni won the 100 with a time of 11.46 seconds. He placed second in the 200 with a time of 23.27. Brady McDaniel won the long jump at 5.74 meters.<\/p>\n

Alex Gordon was a winner for the Hearts in the 800 in 1:58.80 minutes.<\/p>\n

Addison Clark took second in the discus with a throw of 44.59 meters. Jenner Pals was second in the high jump at 1.88 meters.<\/p>\n

Effingham St. Anthony’s Camden Bloemer won the 3200 in 9:57.54 minutes. Oliver Kreke finished second in the 1600 in 4:38.74 minutes.<\/p>\n

T-town’s Karson Zerrusen was a double event winner. He claimed the 110 hurdles in 14.82 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 40.16.<\/p>\n

Newton’s Henry Will claimed first place in the 400 in 52.58 seconds. The Eagles also won the 4×400 relay in 3:29.20 minutes. Team members were Matthew Haskett, Tanner Whitaker, Parker Harris and Will. The Eagles’ 4×200 relay team took second in 1:35.03. Members of the team were Brock Anderson, Haskett, Brayan Ramos and Eli Wolf. Wolf finished second in the long jump at 5.68 meters.<\/p>\n

Altamont’s Jacob Veteto won the pole vault at 4.11 meters. Brock Wendlng finished second in the shot with a heave of 15.05 meters.<\/p>\n

Richland County, Olney won the freshman\/sophomore meet with 20 points followed by Newton 14, Mattoon 13, Effingham 9, Charleston 5, Brownstown 4 and Oblong\/Palestine\/Hutsonville 4.<\/p>\n
