Cumberland remained unbeaten in National Trail Conference softball action with a 12-2 win over South Central Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Pirates broke a 2-2 second inning tie with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth. They finished the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule with six runs in the fifth.<\/p>\n

Mia Holsapple had a single, double and drove in three runs while Lauren Schnepper finished with three singles and three RBI. Kinley MeMechan had a single, triple and an RBI, Ashton Tolen three singles and two RBI and Jude Miller a double and an RBI. Jade Carr added a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n

Holsapple also claimed the pitching victory. She gave up two runs on four hits, two walks and struck out three.<\/p>\n

Perci Reid and Emily Rose had a single and an RBI each for the Cougars.<\/p>\n

Cumberland is now 7-0 in the National Trail Conference and 15-9 overall.<\/p>\n

At St. Anthony<\/strong><\/p>\n

Altamont came calling and picked up a 4-2 win over Effingham St. Anthony as two National Trail Conference teams met Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Indians moved into a 3-0 lead in the third. St. Anthony tallied a run in the fourth but Altamont came right back to move ahead 4-1 in the fifth. St. Anthony scored a final run in the sixth.<\/p>\n

Altamont finished with eight hits led by Sophia Long with a double and an RBI, Laila Hankins with a double, Cecilia Pearcy with three singles and Ella Nelson and Adilyn Schnarre with a single and an RBI each.<\/p>\n

Long went the seven innings on the mound. She gave up two runs on four hits, walked five and struck out four.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony was led by Lilly Gannaway with a double and Sylvie Schumacher with two RBI.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg put this game away by the fifth inning in a 14-1 victory over Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Hatchets moved into a 7-1 opening inning lead then added on two in the second and ended the game with five in the fourth.<\/p>\n

Kendra Hayes threw a two-hitter with only one walk while striking out 12.<\/p>\n

Kalia Friese led the way in hitting with a single, double and three RBI while Mya Friese added a single, double and two RBI. Cameron Carey finished with two singles and three RBI while Claire Holland had two singles and an RBI. Makenna Corrie and Zaida Wascher finished with a single and two RBI each.<\/p>\n

Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City had two hits, singles by Jayla Arnett and Brylie Prater. Prater had an RBI.<\/p>\n

At Strasburg<\/strong><\/p>\n

St. Elmo\/Brownstown produced 26 runs in scoring a 26-2 win over Mulberry Grove in four innings Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Eagles finished with 12 hits and was aided by six Mulberry Grove errors and drawing 12 walks.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Landrus had a single, double and four RBI while Macey Sapp had two singles and five RBI. Alivia Claycomb added two singles and three RBI and Kadence Speagle two singles. Callie Ledbetter and Auni Wollin had a single and two RBI each while Izzy Orr and Macy Claycomb had a single and an RBI each. Dayana Haslett added an RBI.<\/p>\n

Speagle tossed the win. She went three innings, giving up two runs on two hits, two walks and striking out four.<\/p>\n
