MATTOON — Mount Zion was the champion of the Mattoon Boys Track Invitational Thursday. The Braves won with 140 points followed by Marion 86.5, Charleston 84.5, Danville 69, Effingham 67, Urbana 42, Richland County, Olney 41.5, Taylorville 40, Teutopolis 32.5, Mattoon 30, Decatur MacArthur 27, Decatur Eisenhower 27 and Newton 15.<\/p>\n

Effingham’s Alex Gordon was a winner in the 800 with a time of 2:03.51 minutes. Addison Clark won the discus with a throw of 46.45 meters. Maxx Kistler claimed the long jump at 6.62 meters.<\/p>\n

Jenner Pals placed second in the high jump at 1.92 meters.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis had two champions. Karson Zerrusen won the 110 hurdles in 15.03 seconds. He placed second in the 300 hurdles in 40.06. Brant Niebrugge won the pole vault at 3.97 meters.<\/p>\n

Newton’s 4×800 relay team finished third in 8:40.18 minutes. Members of the team included Hayden Borgic, Johnnie Brant, Tanner Whitaker and Parker Harris.<\/p>\n
