{"id":36204,"date":"2026-04-24T06:32:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T11:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/?p=36204"},"modified":"2026-04-25T10:26:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T15:26:34","slug":"marianne-mrs-b-buenekemper-96-of-effingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/obits\/36204-marianne-mrs-b-buenekemper-96-of-effingham\/","title":{"rendered":"Marianne &#8220;Mrs. B&#8221; Buenekemper (96) of Effingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marianne Buenerkemper, \u201cMrs. B\u201d, 96 of Effingham, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Teutopolis.\u00a0 Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.\u00a0 Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer\u2019s Association or charity of the donor&#8217;s choice.\u00a0 Online condolences may be expressed at www.bauerfh.com.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marianne was born on May 18, 1929 in Chicago to Edward and Dorothy Leach.\u00a0 She married Donald \u201cFuddles\u201d Buenerkemper and he preceded her in death in 2005.\u00a0 She was known to her students as \u2018Mrs. B,\u2019 and her greatest pleasure was teaching at St. Anthony High School.\u00a0 When asked what she wanted she would say \u201ca cup of coffee and a few kind words\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marianne is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Carl) Westendorf; sons, Kurt (Charlotte) Buenerkemper and Kraig (Holly) Buenerkemper; daughters-in-law, Theresa Buenerkemper and Cyndi Buenerkemper; sister-in-law, Leola Zerrusen; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Kent and Kevin; grandson, Jamie Westendorf.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeland Nursing Home for the care given to Marianne during her stay at the facility.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marianne Buenerkemper, \u201cMrs. B\u201d, 96 of Effingham, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
