Effingham St. Anthony and Tuscola were tied at 5-5 after four innings of high school baseball Thursday.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony moved ahead in the top of the sixth with a run only to see Tuscola come back in the bottom of the frame and tie the score again.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs then won the game in the top of the seventh. Jonny Gannaway led off with a line drive up the middle. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Chase Dorris. He then moved to third on a wild throw from the catcher to second during Tingley’s at-bat.<\/p>\n

Tingley then hit a line drive in between the shortstop and third baseman on a 3-2, two-out pitch that scored Gannaway with the winning run.<\/p>\n

Aiden Lauritzen led the Bulldogs in hitting with two singles, a double and an RBI. Will Bierman finished with a single and two RBI, Tingley a single and an RBI and Blake Verdeyen with an RBI.<\/p>\n

Hayden Bushur claimed the pitching victory. He came on in the fourth inning to go 3.2 innings. He allowed two runs on three hits, one walk and struck out five. Chase Dorris started the game, going 3.1 innings, giving up four runs on four hits, three walks and striking out six.<\/p>\n

Cumberland held a 3-2 opening inning lead but Neoga came moved ahead with two runs in the third and never looked back in a 14-4 win that ended in the sixth via the 10-run rule.<\/p>\n

Braylon Sparrow was the big offense for Neoga. He hit two home runs and finished with four RBI. Malik Coy had a single and double while Evan Fearday contributed two singles and two RBI. Cayden Hakman had two singles and an RBI and Grady Haarman a single and two RBI. Jude Finney ended with a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n

Fearday finished as the winning pitcher. He went 5.1 innings, giving up four runs on five hits, three walks and striking out five.<\/p>\n

Cumberland was led in hitting by Adyn Heuerman and Kade Mechan had a single and an RBI each. Lance Lock and Bryson Weber had an RBI each.<\/p>\n

The Bombers tacked on six more runs in the third inning. Logan Lach tossed a three-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts for the pitching victory.<\/p>\n

Keelan Speagle led the way in hitting with two doubles and two RBI. Jayce Gillespie added a double and two RBI while Calvin Voelker had a double and an RBI and Lucas Powell a triple and an RBI. Bentley Sanders had an RBI.<\/p>\n

Brownstown\/St. Elmo improved to 5-6 on the season and is back in action Saturday at the Red Hill Round Robin.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes had seven hits with six batters participating in those hits. Michael Habing had two singles, Jason Kreke a single and two RBI, Gavin Addis, Teagan Pals and Andy Lustig a single and an RBI each and Nolan Schumacher an RBI.<\/p>\n

Schumacher went five innings for the pitching win. He gave up one run, two hits, one walk and struck out six.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes will be back in action Saturday at Tolono Unity playing Sacred Heart Griffin at 12:45 and then playing Tolono Unity at 2:30.<\/p>\n

Dieterich had two hits, a double by Gavin Meinhart and a single by Gaddison Goeckner.<\/p>\n

Newton’s bats were hot, as the Eagles had 12 hits that included five home runs in a 10-7 victory over Mount Carmel Thursday.<\/p>\n

Mount Carmel moved into a 3-2 opening inning lead and led 5-2 after two. But Newton came back with two runs in the third and tied the score in the fourth at 7-7.<\/p>\n

Newton then won the game with a three-run top of the seventh, 10-7.<\/p>\n

The Eagles’ Quincy Fulton hit two solo home runs while Gavin Meinhart had a single, home run and four RBI. David Ferguson and Dominic Baltzell finished with a single and a solo home run each.<\/p>\n

Reed Tharp and Maddox Horner had two singles each.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Drake Wolf kept the Golden Aces down offensively. He gave up seven runs on seven hits, one walk and struck out two.<\/p>\n
