In essence they should have finished in a tie in high school softball action Tuesday in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.<\/p>\n<p>But, Cumberland pulled out a 10-7 victory as the two National Trail Conference teams met.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs tallied a run in the first inning. Julia Schultz drew a walk and stole second. She came home on a single by Jackie Vonderheide.<\/p>\n<p>Cumberland came back to move ahead 4-1 in the top of the second inning. Lauren Schnepper led off the inning with a single. She was sacrificed over by Jude Miller. With two outs, Shelby Kingery singled Schnepper home. Kinley McMechan followed with a single. Two errors produced the three runs that followed.<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates moved into an 8-3 lead in the top of the fourth as Jude Carr led off with a single. A single by Ava Long got Carr home.<\/p>\n<p>The lead went to 9-3 in the sixth as Carr drew a walk and stole second. Schnepper singled Carr home.<\/p>\n<p>Cumberland tacked on a final run in the seventh. Mia Holsapple led off with a double but was thrown out at third base. With two out, McMechan drew a walk and stole second. She came home on a fielder&#8217;s choice.<\/p>\n<p>St. Anthony finally broke loose with a four-run seventh inning but fell short. Emeline Wines singled to start the frame followed by a single by Sadie Vineyard. Mallory Litz was hit by a pitch and taken out on a fielder&#8217;s choice. Lily Hardiek followed with a single that brought home two runs. Claire Kinkelaar reached on a fielder&#8217;s choice. Lilly Gannaway singled. With two outs, Vonderheide singled home the other two runs.<\/p>\n<p>Holsapple picked up the pitching victory. Zoey Feldhake led the way with two singles, a double and three RBI. Johnson aided her own cause with a single, triple and two RBI. Amelia Montes finished with a double and an RBI. Izzy Orr added a triple and an RBI while Brooklyn Landrus had a double and Auni Wollin a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n<p>Speagle also picked up the pitching win. Jacee Dhom finished with three RBI. Maci Hayes added two singles and a double.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie Ochs was the winning pitcher.
