ST. ELMO — Homestanding St. Elmo\/Brownstown ran out to a 25-10 opening quarter lead on Ramsey in Egyptian-Illini Conference boys basketball action Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

The Eagles then had a 26-4 second period to lead 51-14 at halftime and never looked back in a 74-41 victory.<\/p>\n

Graiden Wilhour led the way for the Eagles with 19 points, four assists and had five steals. Also in double figure scoring were Benji Lowe with 12 and Dodge Willms with 10. Willms had four assists. Jayden Hughett led in steals with six and had one blocked shot.<\/p>\n

St. Elmo\/Brownstown improved to 15-13 on the season and remained unbeaten in the EIC with a 4-0 record.<\/p>\n

The Eagles will be back in action for their final regular season contest Friday at Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City.<\/p>\n

North Clay trailed Red Hill (Bridgeport) 12-10 after the opening quarter and 28-24 at halftime.<\/p>\n

But the Cardinals came back with a 20-11 third quarter run as Cody Zimdars scored six points while Lucas Griffey and Carder Walden added five each. North Clay moved into a 44-39 lead going into the final quarter.<\/p>\n

The momentum kept rolling as North Clay added another 20 points while holding Red Hill to 10 for the 64-49 victory.<\/p>\n

Four players hit double digits. Walden finished with six field goals and five of five at the line for 19 points. Zimdars added 16 while Griffey ended with 13 and Mason Byers 10.<\/p>\n

In the junior varsity contest, North Clay was a 57-44 winner. Cooper Lewis scored 16 and Talon Hemphill 14 for the Cardinals.<\/p>\n

Cumberland shot out to an 18-7 opening quarter lead and replicated that same tally 18-7 in the second period to lead 36-14 at halftime Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

From there, the Pirates went on for a 65-27 victory over Martinsville.<\/p>\n

Only two players scored in double figures for the Pirates but eight total tallied points in the game.<\/p>\n

Caleb Bierman hit four field goals and was four of five at the line for 12 points. Isaac Venatta put in five field goals and two of three at the line also for 12 points.<\/p>\n

Lance Lock added nine and Cameron Roedl, Reed Miller and Zack Harmon finished with eight each.<\/p>\n

But Central A&M came back in the second half with a 31-16 second half run for the victory.<\/p>\n

CHBC was led by Remington Howell with 19 points on seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and four free throws.<\/p>\n

Porter Lilly added 11 points and Hayden Sarver 10.<\/p>\n

The Maroons were led by Bryce Bohnhoff with four field goals, one from three-point range, and seven of eight at the line for 16. Jackson Icenogle added 13 on five field goals, three of those three-pointers.<\/p>\n

The Eagles had only one player in double figures. Kody Bergbower led the way with 13 points on five field goals, one a three-pointer and two of three at the line. Drake Wolf chipped in with eight.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are now 14-13 on the season and back in action Friday against Flora.<\/p>\n
