PARIS — Effingham High School took care of business Monday evening at the Class 2A Paris Girls Basketball Regional.<\/p>\n

Coach Jeff Schafer’s crew ran out to a 10-point opening quarter lead, held a 44-18 halftime lead and put this game in the victory column by a 71-31 tally.<\/p>\n

Two players scored in double figures for the Hearts. Alyssa Martin whipped out 10 points in the opening quarter run, added on nine more in the second quarter for a total of 19 by halftime and that was her total for the game, hitting seven field goals, one a three-pointer and four of six at the line.<\/p>\n

Tessa Raddatz opened up the three-point scoring, nailing two in the first quarter. She finished with eight points for the game.<\/p>\n

Maci Hayes went to work in the second quarter, connecting on four baskets for eight and finishing with 12 for the contest on six of nine from the field.<\/p>\n

Averie Wolfe hit three field goals and was two of four at the line for nine points.<\/p>\n

The Hearts finished hitting 40 percent from the field, 23.9 percent from three-point range and was 64.7 percent at the free throw line with 11 of 17.<\/p>\n

EHS pushed its record to 28-3 on the season.<\/p>\n

Pana was led by Brooke Cox with 13 and Ryleigh Casner with 10.<\/p>\n

It was possible to have an all-Effingham regional championship game but that went by the wayside as Paris claimed a 55-37 victory over Effingham St. Anthony in the second game of the evening.<\/p>\n

The host Tigers moved into a 15-8 opening quarter lead as four players scored led by Camp with two three-pointers.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs had eight points, all scored by Nancy Ruholl.<\/p>\n

In the second period, Paris had an 11-8 edge to lead 26-16 at halftime. Ali Kollmann put in two baskets for the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

The Tigers continued on with a 16-11 third period. Ruholl scored nine of the Bulldogs’ 11 points on two regular baskets, a three-pointer and two of two at the line.<\/p>\n

Paris then had a 13-10 final period edge. The Tigers were led by Bicknell with 19 points and Camp with 13.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony’s Ruholl was the lone player in double figures for the Bulldogs. She hit eight field goals, two from three-point range, and was three of three at the line for 21.<\/p>\n

Lilly Gannaway led the team in assists with four and steals with two. Addie Lauritzen pulled down seven rebounds.<\/p>\n

Paris was led by Macy Bicknell with 19 points and Pailynn Camp with 13.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony finished the season with an 8-1 National Trail Conference record and a 19-11 overall mark.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to the seniors, Lilly Gannaway and Nancy Ruholl,” said St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman. “They gave the program everything they had through their years. They are high-class girls and their parents should be proud.”<\/p>\n

Effingham and Paris will square off for the regional championship Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the Olney Sectional Tuesday, February 24.<\/p>\n
