St. Anthony’s Cody Rincker earned his 300th career coaching victory at the National Trail Conference Tournament recently and was recognized before the Flora game.<\/em><\/p>\n

Effingham St. Anthony’s Miles Waldhoff went on scoring run in the opening quarter to get the Bulldogs off to a 19-7 lead on Flora and the team went on for a 59-46 victory Friday evening in a game heard on 979XFM.<\/p>\n

Waldhoff was unstoppable, hitting two three-pointers and three regular baskets for 12 of his team’s 19 points.<\/p>\n

Waldhoff continued on with eight in the second period as St. Anthony held a 33-18 halftime lead. Keenan Griffith chipped in with five in the second period.<\/p>\n

Flora came back with a slight 14-13 edge in both the third and fourth periods but to no avail.<\/p>\n

Waldhoff finished with nine field goals, four of those three-pointers, and five of six at the line for 27 points. Griffith added 13 on six field goals and a free throw.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs won the junior varsity game, 60-50. Connor Storm scored 21 points while Cooper Sehy added 16.<\/p>\n

In a freshman\/sophomore contest, St. Anthony edged Flora, 38-37. Logan Gowin scored 12 for the Bulldogs while Charlie Bierman and Andrew Wagner had eight each.<\/p>\n

Coach Cody Rincker earned his 300th coaching victory at the National Trail Conference Tournament and received a plaque.<\/p>\n

Mahomet-Seymour edged out to a 20-17 opening quarter lead on Effingham and ended with a 66-50 victory Friday.<\/p>\n

The Hearts trailed 38-27 at halftime and Mahomet-Seymour had a 28-23 second half run.<\/p>\n

Ten players scored for the Hearts but only one player hit double figures. Jake Niebrugge scored 10 on four field goals and two free throws. Cannon Bockhorn added nine.<\/p>\n

In junior varsity play, Mahomet-Seymour was a 74-69 winner.<\/p>\n

The Hearts were led by five players in double figures. Maxwell Love and Dagg Thompson led the way with 14 each.<\/p>\n

On its home floor, Altamont put together a 72-43 victory over St. Elmo\/Brownstown Friday evening and improved to 18-9 on the season.<\/p>\n

The Indians ran out to a 30-13 opening quarter lead as Parker Bell connected on three from beyond the arc and a regular basket for 11. Cooper McManaway added on two three-pointers and two regular baskets for 10.<\/p>\n

Scoring slowed down for both teams in the second period and Altamont led 48-22 at halftime. Jacob Johnson put in three baskets and three free throws for nine while Cooper McManaway added seven.<\/p>\n

Altamont finished strong with a 24-17 second half run.<\/p>\n

McManaway led the way for the winners with eight field goals, three from beyond the arc, for 19 points. Bell added 13 points on five field goals, three of those three-pointers.<\/p>\n

St. Elmo\/Brownstown (14-13) was led by Graiden Wilhour with 22 points on nine field goals, four of those three-pointers.<\/p>\n

In the junior varsity contest, Altamont won 55-36. The winners were led by Carson Milleville with 14 and Kaiden Wolff with 13.<\/p>\n

OPH moved into a 15-12 opening quarter lead as Blank scored all 15 points for OPH with seven field goals and a free throw.<\/p>\n

Trenton Ballinger and Grady Haarman were the only two scoring for Neoga with two three-point baskets each.<\/p>\n

OPH led by two at halftime, 31-29 then went on a 16-10 third period run and finished out with a 25-21 final period.<\/p>\n

Despite knocking in 12 three-pointers, Neoga fell. Neoga had four players finish in double figures. Ballinger and Haarman led the way with 15 each. Ballinger connected on five three-pointers while Haarman hit four baskets, three of those from beyond the arc, and four of four at the line. Malik Coy chipped in with 12.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes took charge early with a 24-14 opening quarter run. Isaac McWhorter hit a two-pointer, a three-pointer and two free throws for seven in the opening quarter and Gavin Addied finished with six.<\/p>\n

The Shoes continued on with a 23-8 second period to lead 47-22 at halftime. Addis put together four more baskets and a free throw with nine and McWhorter added two more three-pointers.<\/p>\n

Four players hit double figures led by Addis with eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and two of six at the line for 19. McWhorter added 13 while Landyn Buening contributed 12 and Daven Worman finished with 10.<\/p>\n

In junior varsity play, T-town was a 52-27 winner. Twelve players scored for the Shoes led by Andy Lustig with 11 points.<\/p>\n

The Eagles trailed Olney 15-14 after the opening quarter and 27-25 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Newton came back with a 22-20 second half to knot the score at 47-47 sending the game into overtime.<\/p>\n

The Eagles then did not allow Olney a point in the final period while scoring 11 for the victory.<\/p>\n

Drake Wolf led the way with eight field goals and four of four at the line for 20 points while Hayden Mulvey had five field goals, three from beyond the arc, and three of four at the line for 16. Also in double figures was Kody Bergbower with 12.<\/p>\n

The Hatchets went on for a 20-9 third quarter run and finished with a 74-53 victory.<\/p>\n
