Jude Miller connected on two regular baskets, two three-pointers and a free throw for 11 of her team&#8217;s 19 points in the opening period.<\/p>\n<p>Then it was Jade Carr&#8217;s turn to take over the scoring in the second quarter as she hit four shots from downtown for 12 points. Miller added on to her tally with four baskets and a free throw for nine and Cumberland moved into a 44-12 halftime lead.<\/p>\n<p>Miller continued on with 10 points in the third quarter and finished with 30 points to lead the way. She hit 11 field goals, two from three-point range, and was six of seven at the line.<\/p>\n<p>Also in double figures were Carr with 15 on four three-pointers and three of four at the line while Alysa Dittamore added 14 ponts on six field goals and two free throws.<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates held back and did not score in the final quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Cumberland improved to 23-3 on the season and will head into Class 1A regional action Monday at Casey-Westfield. Newton&#8217;s Allie Hermann and Grace Schumacher scored six points each in the period.<\/p>\n<p>Newton had five players finish in double figures. Allie Hermann led the way with five field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of seven at the line for 15 points while Claire Probst added 14. Also in double digits were Grace Schumacher with 12, Alani Bergbower with 10 and Maddie Brummer with 10.<\/p>\n<p>Probst led the way in rebounds with eight, assists with 10 and steals with six.<\/p>\n<p>Newton finishes regular season play with a 20-10 record. They will host Flora Saturday in the Class 2A Mount Carmel Regional with game time scheduled for 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>St. Anthony was led by Nancy Ruholl with 21 points on eight field goals, two of those three-pointers, and three free throws. Also in double figures were Addie Lauritzen with 12 and Ali Kollmann with 10.<\/p>\n<p>Ruholl led in rebounds with 10 while Avery Henning, Lilly Gannaway and Lauritzen had three assists each.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs finished regular season play with a 19-10 mark. They head to the Class 2A Paris Regional Monday and will face host Paris at 7:30 p.m. In the first game of the evening Monday, top-seeded Effingham will take on either Pana or Palestine\/Hutsonville\/Oblong at 6:30 p.m. Those two teams meet Saturday at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>In junior varsity play, Newton won 27-6 in a game that was two quarters. This time around, Hayes scored seven points while Elle Walker added three and Cameron Carey and Clarissa Johnson tallied two each to knot the score at 45-45, sending the game into overtime.<\/p>\n<p>In the overtime period, Hayes went on a scoring run from the free throw line, hitting six of six and Claire Holland and Claire VonBehrens scored a basket each to give the Hatchets the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Hayes finished with 28 points on eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and 11 of 14 at the line. The Hatchets are now 11-13 and will be back in sction Saturday at the Class 1A Mount Pulaski Regional. They led 37-20 going into the final quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Lola Hartke was the lone Neoga player in double figures with 15 points on six field goals and one of two at the line. She hit two three-pointers.<\/p>\n<p>Neoga ended the regular season with an 11-17 record. They are back in action Saturday in the Mount Pulaski Regional. Ella Nelson and Alyssa Ruholl finished with seven points each.<\/p>\n<p>Altamont finished regular season play with a 10-15 record. The Indians return to action Saturday in the Class 1A North Clay Regional. The Bobcats had a 28-10 second half run to tie the score at 37-37, sending the game into overtime. But CHBC could not score in the overtime period as Ramsey had three.<\/p>\n<p>Lena Bowlin was the lone CHBC player in double figures with 14 on three field goals and eight of 10 at the line.<\/p>\n<p>Harper Lilly, Carissa Wakefield and Alaynah Rauch added six each.<\/p>\n<p>CHBC dropped to 6-21 on the season.
