Douthit said he feels only one entity the right to take such action. Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said the state Coroners Association is interested in how the legislation would be implemented. Board member Norbert Soltwedel said there are some who support abortion and favor this measure, so said it&#8217;s not necessarily a religious issue. The committee voted to table the issue until their March meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Committee chairman David Campbell said State&#8217;s Attorney Aaron Jones is working on an ordinance for small subdivision upkeep and appearance requirements. Campbell said they&#8217;re hearing from residents dealing with problems in their subdivision.<\/p>\n<p>Committee members were updated on funding for opioid addiction treatment. Hour House in Charleston could be an option to address funding. The matter could be addressed at next week&#8217;s board meeting.<\/p>\n<p>There was also discussion on updating the employee handbook on bereavement leave. The update would broaden the number of people for which an employee could seek a leave.<\/p>\n<p>Committee members heard from Casey Kemme on Extension activities, including the Hunters Feeding Illinois program. Kemme said Extension currently has 90 volunteers and 300 students.<\/p>\n<p>There was also a local resident who wants the County Board to go on record as opposing racism.
