Sigel St. Michael saw its season come to a close in its own Class 7-1A Boys Basketball Regional Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Sharpshooters fell to Pana Sacred Heart, 45-12.<\/p>\n

In the second game of the evening, Altamont Lutheran defeated Newton St. Thomas 35-28.<\/p>\n

Altamont Lutheran advances to the championship game to meet Pana Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. Thursday for the championship. The winner advances to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional to take on the winner of the Jerseyville St. Francis HG Regional Monday at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Class 7-2A North Clay Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tonight’s games feature Effingham St. Anthony against Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City and Stewardson-Strasburg facing St. Elmo\/Brownstown at 6:15.<\/p>\n

The winners advance to the championship game Wednesday at 5;30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three games were contested in the Casey-Westfield Regional Saturday.<\/p>\n

Dieterich won over Hutsonville, 44-13 while Oblong defeated Neoga, 33-14.<\/p>\n

Casey-Westfield was a 49-20 winner over Villa Grove and Paris Crestwood downed Arcola, 40-23.<\/p>\n

Today’s games include Dieterich facing Oblong at 6 p.m. followed by Casey-Westfield against Paris Crestwood at 7.<\/p>\n

The winners advance to the championship game Thursday at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Class 7-3A Marshall Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Teutopolis is headed to the championship game of the Marshall Regional.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Sheos trounced Paris Mayo, 54-14, zipping out to a 21-2 opening quarter lead.<\/p>\n

Bryson Meyer led the way with 27 points while Dylan Deters chipped in with seven.<\/p>\n

Marshall was a 66-29 winner over Robinson Nuttall in the second contest.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis, seeded No. 1, will now face No. 2 seeded Marshall at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.<\/p>\n

At Greenville<\/strong><\/p>\n

Effingham St. Anthony opened its stay at the 77th Annual James Burke Memorial Boys Basketball Tournament with a victory Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Bullpups beat Hillsboro, 55-31.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony ran out to a 20-10 opening quarter lead as Phillips scored 13 points. The Bullpups held a 33-15 halftime lead.<\/p>\n

Phillips finished with 26 points on 11 field goals that included one three-pointer. G. Bloemer added 13.<\/p>\n

In other games, Salem had a first round bye, Greenville won over Roxana 43-27 and Aviston downed Staunton 38-13.<\/p>\n

Tonight’s game will feature Staunton against Hillsboro in loser bracket action.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony will face Aviston at 7 p.m. Thursday while Salem will take on Greenville at 6 p.m. in winner bracket play. The winners will advance to the championship game Friday at 7 p.m. while the losers will play for third place at 6.<\/p>\n

At Effingham<\/strong><\/p>\n

Effingham hosted an Eighth-Grade Round Robin Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs fell in the opening game to Triad, 41-23. The two teams were tied at 9-9 after the first quarter. Triad moved ahead 23-16 at halftime then held the Mustangs to zero points in the third quarter to move ahead 27-16.<\/p>\n

Efifngham was led by Justus Bridges with eight points.<\/p>\n

In the second game, Triad defeated Effingham Sacred Heart, 55-36.<\/p>\n

Triad held a 30-17 halftime lead.<\/p>\n

Jackson LaSarge was the lone Shamrocks player in double figures with 10, Ruben Jansen added nine and Gabe Traub eight.<\/p>\n

In the third game, Effingham edged Effingham Sacred Heart 43-39.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs took a 13-6 opening quarter lead but Sacred Heart came back with a 15-5 second period to lead 21-18 at halftime. Effingham then had an 11-8 third period and outscored the Shamrocks 14-10 in the final quarter.<\/p>\n

Justus Bridges led the Mustangs with 13 points while Deke Thompson and Calvin Beck had eight each.<\/p>\n

Sacred Heart was led by Gabe Traub with 17 and Bryce Hayes with eight.<\/p>\n
