Seventh-grade boys basketball regionals begin Saturday around the area.<\/p>\n

Following are the regionals with scores:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sigel St. Michael claimed a victory in its own regional Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Sharpshooters handed Mulberry Grove a 33-16 loss.<\/p>\n

Altamont Lutheran then easily defeated Ramsey, 46-17.<\/p>\n

Sigel St. Michael will now face top-seeded Pana Sacred Heart tonight at 6.<\/p>\n

In the second game, second-seeded Newton St. Thomas will take on Altamont Lutheran at 7:15.<\/p>\n

Class 7-1A Martinsville Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Philo St. Thomas was a 32-16 winner over Mattoon in the opener.<\/p>\n

The second game went to Hume Shiloh over Windsor, 56-27.<\/p>\n

Martinsville then edged Chrisman Scottland, 29-23.<\/p>\n

Top-seeded Kansas will face Philo St. Thomas at 6 p.m. today while Hume Shiloh and Martinsville square off at 7:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

Class 7-2A North Clay Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City, Stewardson-Strasburg and St. Elmo\/Brownstown all advanced in the North Clay Regional.<\/p>\n

In the opener Saturday, Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City edged North Clay, 30-29. CHBC moved into an 11-10 opening quarter lead but North Clay came back to take the lead 17-13 at halftime.<\/p>\n

CHBC then had a 17-12 second half to edge North Clay, 30-29.<\/p>\n

Tyce Kircher led the win with 10 points while Luke Roadarmel and Braxton Goeckner had six each.<\/p>\n

North Clay was led by L. Boose with nine and Keller with eight.<\/p>\n

The second contest went to Stewardson-Strasburg over South Central 42-31.<\/p>\n

South Central ran out to a 19-8 opening quarter lead but Stew-Stras came back with a 15-6 second period and held South Central scoreless in the third quarter to lead 36-25 going into the final period.<\/p>\n

Stew-Stras was led by Ashmore and Hille with 12 points each. The team is now 16-6 on the season.<\/p>\n

South Central’s Hall also had 12 points.<\/p>\n

St. Elmo\/Brownstown defeated Altamont 44-13. SEB went out to an 11-2 opening quarter lead as Schaub scored seven points. SEB held a 17-6 halftime tally.<\/p>\n

SEB then had a 13-4 third quarter surge as Morrison nailed two three-pointers and Wilhour put in a regular basket and a three for five.<\/p>\n

Schaub finished with 12 points while Morrison and Wilhour added 11 each for the winners.<\/p>\n

Altamont was led by Pierce with eight.<\/p>\n

Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City will meet Effingham St. Anthony Tuesday at 5 p.m. followed by Stewardson-Strasburg against St. Elmo\/Brownstown at 6:15.<\/p>\n

Dieterich advances in the opening round with a 44-13 victory over Hutsonville Saturday.<\/p>\n

Dieterich will face the winner of the Neoga vs. Oblong contest at 6 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Class 7-3A Marshall Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Teutopolis was a big winner over Cumberland in the opening game of the Marshall Regional Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes pounded Cumberland 66-6. The Shoes led 40-2 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Charlie Koester and Dylan Deters led the Shoes with 11 points each.<\/p>\n

Cumberland was led by Green, Dittamore and Swingler with two each.<\/p>\n

In the second game, Paris Mayo defeated Jasper County 48-32. Jasper County held an 8-6 opening quarter lead but Paris Mayo came on to tie the score at 17-17 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Mayo then had a 31-15 second half for the victory.<\/p>\n

Jasper County was led by Cash Collins with 16.<\/p>\n

Paris Mayo’s leading scorers were Phillip Williams with 21 and Liem Eveland with 13.<\/p>\n

Jasper County finishes the seventh-grade season with a 9-10 record.<\/p>\n

Class 7-3A Marshall Regional<\/strong><\/p>\n

Effingham saw its season come to a close in the Taylorville Regional Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs fell to Mattoon by a 50-8 count in the second game of the day.<\/p>\n

In the opener, Taylorville won over Stephen Decatur, 45-23.<\/p>\n

Taylorville advanced to meet Mount Zion and lost, 40-13.<\/p>\n

In the fourth game of the day, Mattoon won over Rochester, 40-34.<\/p>\n
