The Effingham Athletic Department runs an Athlete of the Month program each month. Athletes are nominated by head coaches and then voted on by all coaches. Winners receive recognition and a Treign Athlete of the Month shirt. Nomination criteria is as follows:<\/p>\n

Rhylee Holland — JH Girls Basketball (8th Grade)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rhylee has been a standout performer for the basketball program this season, earning recognition as the team\u2019s best defender. She consistently took on the challenge of guarding the opponent\u2019s best player and did so with intensity, discipline, and toughness. Her defensive effort set the tone for the team and played a key role in our success.<\/p>\n

In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Rhylee has received high honors in the classroom, reflecting her strong work ethic, discipline, and commitment to excellence. She is a true example of a student-athlete and a deserving nominee for Athlete of the Month. — Coach Aaron Witges<\/p>\n

Deek Thompson – JH Boys Basketball (8th Grade)<\/strong><\/p>\n

During our recent nine game win streak Deek averaged 16.7 points per game and shot 31 of 37 from the free throw line for 84%. Deek has really stepped up his play in the second half and is doing a great job of getting everyone else involved. Really proud of the strides he has made as a player and a young man on and off the court. He has matured a lot this season.
