Effingham St. Anthony handed Altamont Lutheran two losses in junior high boys basketball competition Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade encounter 48-17. St. Anthony ran out to an 18-5 opening quarter lead as James Gilmore scored eight of his team’s points.<\/p>\n

Gilmore continued on in the second quarter, scoring 13 of the team’s 19 points. He hit five regular baskets and a three-pointer.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony had a 10-5 third quarter.<\/p>\n

Gilmore led the Bullpups with 25 points as St. Anthony remained unbeaten at 17-0.<\/p>\n

Altamont Lutheran was led by Carter Wasson with six.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony won 42-29.<\/p>\n

Altamont Lutheran held a 14-8 opening quarter lead and held a 24-23 halftime tally. But the Bullpups came out after halftime and outscored Altamont Lutheran 19-5 over the next two quarters.<\/p>\n

P. Phillips led the Bullpups with 16 points.<\/p>\n

Altamont Lutheran was led by Liam Schnarre with nine.<\/p>\n

At St. Anthony<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Strasburg<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed two victories over Arthur-Lovington\/Atwood-Hammond Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade game, 40-23, taking a 23-13 halftime lead and outscoring ALAH 14-5 in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

Worman and Ashmore scored 11 points each for the winners who improved to 12-4 on the season.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras ran out to a 24-8 opening quarter lead and finished with a 69-21 victory.<\/p>\n

Pruemer scored 23 points while Friese added 10. Ten players scored for the winners who remained unbeaten at 18-0. Stew-Stras is back in action today at Dieterich.<\/p>\n

Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City split victories with Central A&M Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Central A&M was a 32-16 winner in the seventh-grade contest. Central A&M ran out to a 17-6 opening quarter lead and never looked back.<\/p>\n

CHBC was led by Colt Ondes with 11 points.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, CHBC held off A&M in the final quarter for a 41-39 victory.<\/p>\n

CHBC led 7-1 after the opening quarter and 17-16 at halftime. CHBC then had a 12-5 third quarter run but Central A&M came back with an 18-12 final period only to fall short.<\/p>\n

Drake Thull led the winners with 15 points while Lane Reed added 10.<\/p>\n

North Clay played host to South Central and won both games Monday evening.<\/p>\n

North Clay captured the seventh-grade game 27-21 to improve to 2-8 in the National Trail Conference and 3-12 overall.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, North Clay won 42-37 in overtime .<\/p>\n
