SESSER — Altamont will be playing for third place at the Sesser-Valier Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament after weekend action.<\/p>\n

The Indians won their opener in the tournament Friday over New Athens 68-62.<\/p>\n

New Athens took a 19-13 opening quarter lead but Altamont came roaring back with a 20-8 period to lead 33-27 at halftime. Cooper McManaway had a nine point run in that second period.<\/p>\n

New Athens came back with a 19-14 third period to trail 47-46 going into the final quarter. Altamont then got back into the scoring lead as Zaine Miller connected for nine points while Kade Milleville added eight and the Indians pulled out the 68-62 win.<\/p>\n

Miller finished with 20 points while K. Milleville added 17 and McManaway 16.<\/p>\n

Altamont then fell to Waltonville, 52-47. Waltonville zipped out to a 17-10 opening quarter lead and led 31-25 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Altamont had a 17-14 third period but Waltonville ended up with a 9-7 final quarter edge.<\/p>\n

Cooper McManaway tallied 19 to lead the way while Blake Berg added 12 and K. Milleville 11.<\/p>\n

At Monticello<\/strong><\/p>\n

Neoga fell in three games at the Monticello Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament during the weekend.<\/p>\n

Neoga opened with a 63-36 loss to Monticello. The Sages tore out to a 20-9 opening quarter lead and never looked back.<\/p>\n

The Indians had two players finish in double figures. Kaden Bryant led with 15 points while Brayden Ray chipped in with 11.<\/p>\n

Neoga then faced Colfax Ridgeview and fell 72-53.<\/p>\n

The two teams were tied at 16-16 in the opening quarter. Ridgeview moved into a 28-27 halftime lead then had a 20-6 third quarter to break the game open.<\/p>\n

Neoga was led in scoring by Ray with 21 points on eight field goals and five free throws. Bryant also added 16 points.<\/p>\n

The Indians suffered their third loss, this one to Gibson City\/Melvin-Sibley by a 62-53 count.<\/p>\n

Neoga held a 16-13 opening quarter lead and led 29-27 at halftime. But GCMS came back with a 16-6 third quarter and held on for the win.<\/p>\n

Kaden Bryant led Neoga with 20 points while Ray added 13 and Grady Haarman with 11.<\/p>\n

Neoga will face Fithian Oakwood at noon today for seventh place.<\/p>\n

At Kansas<\/strong><\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg opened with a loss but finished with a victory in the Tri-County Holiday Tournament Saturday.<\/p>\n

In the opener, Paris was a 58-52 winner over WSS.<\/p>\n

The two teams played to a 16-16 opening quarter lead. Windsor\/-Stew-Stras led 29-28 at halftime.<\/p>\n

But Paris came back with a 17-9 third quarter and held on for the win.<\/p>\n

Wyatt Wetherell led the way with 25 points for the Hatchets. He connected on 10 field goals, three of those from three-point range and was two of two at the line.<\/p>\n

In the second game, Westville claimed a 65-49 victory over Windsor\/Stew-Stras. Westville ran out to a 25-11 opening quarter lead and had a 19-9 third period run.<\/p>\n

Brody Bible led the Hatchets with nine points while Wyatt Wetherell added eight.<\/p>\n

Westville’s White finished with 32 points on 13 field goals, one a three-pointer, and five of eight at the line.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras faces Martinsville today at 2:30 p.m. and will finish out the tourney with two games Tuesday. WSS meets Chrisman at 1 p.m. and then faces Tri-County at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
