Area girls high school basketball teams will be competing in four tournaments beginning Friday, December 26.<\/p>\n

Effingham, Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis will be taking part in the Coles County Tournament at Mattoon and Charleston high schools.<\/p>\n

Effingham’s first game is Friday against Central at 11:30 a.m. at Mattoon High School with the second game at 6 p.m. against Marion.<\/p>\n

St.\u00a0 Anthony will meet Sullivan at 3 p.m. and take on Mahomet-Seymour at 6 p.m. at Charleston High School.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis faces Jacksonville at 1 p.m. and Charleston at 4:30 p.m. at Charleston High School.<\/p>\n

Dieterich will play host to area teams, Brownstown\/St. Elmo and Cumberland plus numerous other teams in its holiday tournament.<\/p>\n

On opening day Friday, Dieterich faces Ramsey at 10 a.m., Cumberland takes on Ramsey at 1 p.m .and Brownstown\/St. Elmo meets Arcola at 2:30. Dieterich plays a second game against Okaw Valley at 5:30.<\/p>\n

Newton and North Clay will be taking part in the Merry Mule Tournament at Fairfield. North Clay opens at 10 a.m. Friday against Edwards County then faces West Frankfort at 1:30. Newton\u00a0 meets Wayne City at 11:30 and faces Mount Vernon at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

Neoga is the lone area team at the Monticello Holiday Tournament. Neoga faces Monticello at 10 a.m. Friday and takes on Tri-Valley at 7L30 p.m.<\/p>\n
