ARTHUR — Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg will be playing for third place at the Arthur-Lovington\/Atwood-Hammond Knights Holiday Basketball Classic.<\/p>\n

In a game against the host ALAH squad Saturday, the Hatchets fell 40-37.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras held a 15-14 opening quarter lead and Kendra Hayes hit three from beyond the arc, and was four of four at the line for all 15 points.<\/p>\n

But ALAH came back with a slight 10-8 second period to pull ahead 24-23 at halftime. Hayes connected for four points.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras held a 5-4 third period margin but ALAH came back with a 12- 9 final period to claim the victory.<\/p>\n

Hayes led the way with 19 points on five field goals, three of those three-pointers, and six of six at the line.<\/p>\n

In the second game of the day, the Hatchets defeated Decatur Eisenhower 57-42.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras ran out to a 21-13 opening quarter lead. Cameron Carey connected on two baskets and two free throws for six points while Clarissa Johnson hit two from beyond the arc for six and Kendra Hayes put in a basket and a three-pointer for five.<\/p>\n

The lead went to 34-20 at halftime as Lauren Longwell and Hayes put in a basket and two free throws each.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras held a 46-28 lead in the third period.<\/p>\n

Three players hit double figures for the Hatchets. Hayes led the way with four field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of five at the line for 12. Carey and Claire Holland scored 11 each.<\/p>\n

In other games Friday, ALAH won over Eisenhower 38-34, Rantoul bounced Heritage 62-48 and ACS defeated Unity Christian 44-38.<\/p>\n

In Saturday games, Heritage beat ACS 52-43, Rantoul edged Unity 56-51, Heritage downed Unity Christian 52-43, Rantoul won over ACS 53-51, ALAH beat Chrisman 42-22 and no score reported on Eisenhower vs. Chrisman.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras will take on Arthur-Lovington\/Atwood-Hammond at 7:30 p.m. today for third place.<\/p>\n
