Effingham and Effingham St. Anthony both suffered losses in the St. Anthony Boys Basketball Turkey Tournament Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

The Hearts opened the evening with a 63-47 defeat at the hands of Edwardsville.<\/p>\n

Edwardsville went out to a 16-8 opening quarter lead and then had a 22-11 second period run to lead 38-19 at halftime. Neimi connected on three trifectas through the opening half and finished with five for the game to lead Edwardsville with 16 points.<\/p>\n

Effingham was led by Jenner Pals with 13 on five field goals that included one three-pointer.<\/p>\n

Six players scored in the opening quarter for Chicago Leo and the squad held a 15-7 lead over St. Anthony.<\/p>\n

The lead went to 20-11 at halftime as the Bulldogs managed only two baskets in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony played Leo even in the third period as both teams scored 11 points and the Bulldogs had a 10-7 final quarter run but couldn’t make up that first half difference.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs were led by Keenan Griffith with nine points and Gabe Looman with eight.<\/p>\n

The action continues Friday with four games. St. Anthony and Effingham square off at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
