Effingham High School hosted Dieterich in girls basketball action and captured a 78-33 victory Friday.<\/p>\n

The Hearts ran out to a 27-11 opening quarter lead and led 51-23 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Three players hit double figures for the Hearts. Averie Wolfe led the way with 23 points on nine field goals that included one three-pointer and three of three at the line. Alyssa Martin chipped in with 22 on eight field goals as she connected on eight of 10 from the field and was four of four at the line. Tessa Raddatz chipped in with 11.<\/p>\n

The Maroons were led by Addison Miller with 13 points on three field goals that included a three-pointer and six of nine at the line. Claire Faller and Lena Goebel pulled down six rebounds each. Goebel finished with four assists. Faller had two steals.<\/p>\n

Altamont captured a 65-60 win over\u00a0 Marshall in Friday competition.<\/p>\n

Four players hit double figures for the Indians. Kaylee Lurkins connected on nine baskets for 18 points. Reagan Kuenstler added 16 on six field goals, four of those from three-point range, and Ada Roberts and Aldrich scored 11 each.<\/p>\n

The Indians ran out to a 24-10 opening quarter lead. But Marshall came back with a 23-11 second period run to pull into a 33-24 halftime tally.<\/p>\n

Marshall continued on with a 16-8 third quarter run to lead 49-43.<\/p>\n

But here came Altamont. The Indians’ Roberts, who had tallied five in the first three quarters, hit six of eight at the line for six points while Aldrich chipped in, also with six points on three baskets and Kuenstler added five and the Indians had a 22-11 run to pull out the victory.<\/p>\n
