Neoga Junior High School captured both girls basketball victories over South Central in Monday evening competition.<\/p>\n

The seventh-graders won 22-9 by stepping out to a 16-2 first half lead and never looking back.<\/p>\n

Nora Hartke and Avery Finney led the way for the winners with eight points each.<\/p>\n

South Central was led by V. Skibinski with six.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, Neoga was a 28-13 winner.<\/p>\n

South Central held a 12-11 first half lead but Neoga came roaring back to hold South Central scoreless in the third quarter and push ahead 18-12.<\/p>\n

Neoga then had a 10-1 final period run.<\/p>\n

Bliss Bear led in scoring for the winners with 16 points.<\/p>\n

South Central was led by Skylar Webster with seven.<\/p>\n

Effingham fell to Mattoon in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Mattoon was a 43-24 winner in the seventh-grade contest. Mattoon moved into a 13-6 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 28-11 at halftime.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs were led by Kynlie Rohr with nine points.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, Mattoon led 17-7 at halftime then had a 21-9 second half.<\/p>\n

Effingham was led by Cloie Bailey with six points.<\/p>\n
