SIGEL — Effingham St. Anthony claimed two junior high boys basketball wins over Sigel St. Michael Monday evening.<\/p>\n

In the seventh-grade game, the Bullpups were 44-23 winners. St. Anthony held a 23-6 halftime lead and never looked back.<\/p>\n

Nash Hoene was the lone Bullpups player in double figures with 10 as 11 players scored in the contest. St. Anthony is unbeaten at 4-0.<\/p>\n

St. Michael was led by Oliver Deters with 17 points, 11 of those coming in the final period.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony moved into a 21-12 halftime lead and scored a 38-27 win over the Sharpshooters.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony was led by P. Phillips with 13 points.<\/p>\n

St. Michael was led by Ben Walk, also with 13 points.<\/p>\n

Dieterich and Jasper County each picked up a victory Monday evening.<\/p>\n

In the seventh-grade contest, Dieterich was a 39-22 winner. The Roadrunners moved into a 10-5 opening quarter lead and led 21-8 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Chase Bohnhoff led the way in scoring for the winners with 14 points while Colten Keck added nine.<\/p>\n

Jasper County (2-3) was led by Cash Collins with nine points and was the top defender. Rafe Thomann was the top rebounder and Kamden Klier the top passer.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County ran out to a 17-2 opening quarter lead and went on for a 43-26 victory.<\/p>\n

Jacob Guzman scored 14 and Grant Frichtl 11 for the winners. Trace Cornwell was the top rebounder, top defender and top passer. Jasper County improved to 4-1.<\/p>\n

Dieterich was led by Brody Niemerg with eight points.<\/p>\n

Stewardson-Strasburg and Newton St. Thomas split victories Monday evening.<\/p>\n

St. Thomas was a 28-14 winner in the seventh-grade game. St. Thomas held a 10-4 halftime lead and had an 11-3 third quarter run.<\/p>\n

St.Thomas was led by Bierman with nine points.<\/p>\n

Stew-Stras was led by Rahn with eight points. Stew-Stras fell to 1-2 on the season.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras improved to 3-0 on the season with a 47-14 victory.<\/p>\n

Stew-Stras ran out to a 15-2 opening quarter lead and led 31-6 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Friese led with 11 points while Richter added 10 as nine players scored in the game. Stew-Stras remained unbeaten with a 3-0 record and is back in action Thursday hosting Sullivan at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

St. Thomas was led by Gier with eight.<\/p>\n

Altamont Lutheran came calling and claimed both victories over Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Altamont Lutheran was a 35-15 winner in seventh-grade play, taking an 18-8 first half lead and outscoring the Bobcats 17-7 in the second half.<\/p>\n

Kroening led the winners with eight points while Sefton and Koester added seven each.<\/p>\n

CHBC was led by Tyce Kircher and Elliot Thull with five each.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont Lutheran edged CHBC, 25-22.<\/p>\n

Altamont moved into an 8-5 opening quarter lead and held that three-point lead to the end of the contest.<\/p>\n

Schnarre scored eight for the winners.<\/p>\n

CHBC was led by Drake Thull with 16.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 50-16. The Shoes held a 27-9 halftime lead and had a 17-5 third quarter.<\/p>\n

Deters led the way with 15 points while Meyer added 14 for the Shoes.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade action, T-town ran out to a 32-12 halftime lead and finished with a 60-30 victory.<\/p>\n

Giles scored 16 for the winners while Althoff added nine.<\/p>\n
