Stewardson Trinity Lutheran competed in the Lutheran State Volleyball Tournament in Collinsville and Edwardsville last weekend.<\/p>\n

Fourteen teams competed in the tourney. Trinity Lutheran won its pool.<\/p>\n

They played Belleville in pool play and in bracket play and lost to Yorkville in the championship game.<\/p>\n

“This was the team we beat in the championship match last year,” said Coach Tammy Manhart. “They were a very talented team with many returning players from last year.<\/p>\n

“My girls play so well all weekend, dominating in all matches but the championship match. They were a much bigger team than us, so I think there were a lot of nerves at the start of the championship match. We did not play like we had been playing all weekend until a few points into the second set.<\/p>\n

“The second set was very completive, and we almost pulled it out. I thought if we could win that second set it was anyone’s ball game. We fell short losing that set 25-23.<\/p>\n

“I am so proud of all my girls and the team that they have become in just a few games. This is a very short season with only 14 games. I am super excited to see what the spring season holds for our team.<\/p>\n

“We had three players make the all tourney team, more than any other team, and those were Gia Bostedo, Cora Reed and Maddy Manhart.”<\/p>\n
