TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis claimed victories over Taylorville and Mahomet-Seymour in girls junior high basketball competition Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest against Taylorville by a 38-19 count. Bloemer and P. Ruholl scored 10 points each for the Shoes.<\/p>\n

T-town trailed 5-4 after the opening quarter but led 16-9 at halftime and never looked back.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 51-25 winner.<\/p>\n

T-town held a 23-11 halftime lead and had a 28-14 second half.<\/p>\n

G. Probst scored 15 for the Shoes while A. Meyer tallied 12. The eighth-graders improved to 11-1.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis then defeated Mahomet-Seymour 22-16 in seventh-grade play. The Shoes trailed 11-8 at halftime but had a 14-5 second half.<\/p>\n

Bloemer led the way with eight points as the team improved to 13-1.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade game, T-town ripped out to a 27-8 halftime lead and went on for a 39-19 victory.<\/p>\n

G. Probst and R. Zerrusen scored 11 each for the Shoes who are now 12-2 on the season.<\/p>\n

Effingham and Richland County, Olney split victories in junior high girls basketball competition Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game, 23-19.<\/p>\n

Effingham took a 16-10 halftime lead then held Olney scoreless in the second half.<\/p>\n

Anna Gouchenour led the way for the Mustangs with 10 points as the team improved to 6-2.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade action, Olney claimed a 38-26 winner.<\/p>\n

Effingham took an 11-6 opening quarter lead and led 16-12 at halftime. But Olney came roaring back with a 26-7 second half.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs were led by Anna Gouchenouer with 10 points. The team dropped to 3-5 on the season.<\/p>\n

CHBC won 22-18 to improve to 4-2 in the National Trail Conference and 8-5 overall.<\/p>\n

Aubree Towler led the way with 10 points.<\/p>\n

Dieterich was led by Ali Koester with 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich won 40-15. Dieterich held a 24-2 halftime lead.<\/p>\n

The Roadrunners were led by Emery Bill with 12 points and Lydia Kreke with 10. Kreke led in rebounds with 11. Bill had four steals.<\/p>\n
