{"id":19581,"date":"2025-09-30T10:57:53","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T15:57:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/?p=19581"},"modified":"2025-09-30T10:57:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T15:57:53","slug":"relay-for-life-of-effingham-county-raises-77642-in-battle-against-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/local-news\/19581-relay-for-life-of-effingham-county-raises-77642-in-battle-against-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Relay for Life of Effingham County Raises $77,642 in Battle Against Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p>(RON MIETZNER AND BECKY KINMAN)<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The American Cancer Society celebrated the end of another successful Relay For Life of Effingham County season last week, announcing that participants and supporters raised\u00a0<strong>$77,642<\/strong>\u00a0to help fund the Society\u2019s mission to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event recognized the dedication of local teams, individuals, and community partners who worked tirelessly throughout the season to raise critical funds and awareness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the highlights:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><strong>Co-Leads Becky Kinman and Ron Mietzner and their teams<\/strong>\u00a0Bosom Buddies and The Tumornators \u2013 Cindy\u2019s Team were honored with\u00a0<strong>Team of Excellence Awards<\/strong>\u00a0raising over $38,000 and $20,600 respectively.<\/li>\n<li>Five individuals earned\u00a0<strong>All Star Relayer<\/strong>\u00a0status by raising more than $2,500: Becky Kinman, Ron Mietzner, Teresa Haywood, Belinda Ernst, and Brigette Leftwich.<\/li>\n<li>Three participants were recognized as\u00a0<strong>Grand Club Fundraisers<\/strong>\u00a0for raising more than $1,000: Sheila Myers, Alice Zumbahlen, and Linda Brock.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Fundraising Teams and Totals<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Bosom Buddies \u2013 $38,302.80<\/li>\n<li>The Tumornators \u2013 Cindy\u2019s Team \u2013 $20,618.75<\/li>\n<li>Software Solutions Integrated, LLC \u2013 $3,950.30<\/li>\n<li>Crossroads Bank \u2013 $2,500<\/li>\n<li>Heather\u2019s Fight Club \u2013 $2,248.83<\/li>\n<li>Cromwell Media \u2013 Effingham \u2013 $1,928.20<\/li>\n<li>Relay Rebels \u2013 $1,513.75<\/li>\n<li>Hope, Faith, Inspiration \u2013 $529.49<\/li>\n<li>979XFM &amp; KJ Country 102.3 \u2013 $430<\/li>\n<li>Effingham Daily News Headliners \u2013 $279<\/li>\n<li>Bree\u2019s Warriors \u2013 $190.50<\/li>\n<li>Homewood Grill \u2013 $100<\/li>\n<li>MAC DADDY Food Truck \u2013 $35<\/li>\n<li>Starr Style<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cRelay For Life is a celebration of a community\u2019s commitment to fighting cancer,\u201d said Stephanie Norris, Sr. Development Manage with the American Cancer Society. \u201cThe dedication shown by Effingham County teams and volunteers ensures that we can continue providing vital support for patients, fund groundbreaking research, and create hope for a world without cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world\u2019s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event dedicated to saving lives from cancer.
