TEUTOPOLIS — Effingham High School came calling and downed Teutopolis 25-11, 25-16 in volleyball competition Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Hearts were winners in the varsity match, 25-11, 25-16.<\/p>\n

Leading EHS were Berkley Pullen with 11 assists, Mckenzie Love with six kills, seven digs and two aces, Camdyn Burgholzer with two aces and Mara Braun with three blocks.<\/p>\n

“We played a very clean match,” said EHS Coach Laurie Bohnhoff. “We had very few hitting or serving errors. It was a good win.”<\/p>\n

Teutopolis was led by Kaylie Jordan with 10 assists and one ace, Ella Tarter with nine digs and Elise Pals with three kills and one block. Marie Zumbahlen also had three kills.<\/p>\n

T-town dropped to 7-3 in varsity play.<\/p>\n

In the junior varsity contest, T-town was a winner 25-15, 25-22 to improve to 6-1.<\/p>\n

The Teutopolis freshmen defeated Effingham’s freshman\/sophomores, 25-20, 25-14. The Shoes now have a 4-2 record.<\/p>\n

At Sullivan<\/strong><\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg went three sets to beat Sullivan Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Hatchets won the opener 25-16 but Sullivan came back with a 25-22 win. Windsor\/Stew-Stras then claimed the match, 25-23 to improve to 6-4 on the season.<\/p>\n

“With Brooke Schumacher out with an injury, Sullivan really put the pressure on us,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “we had to fight for each point. Even though they weren’t able to come out on top of the second set, they were able to power through and take set three. I’m proud of how they kept their cool and kept working hard. It was an intense game from both sides.”<\/p>\n

Mya Friese and Abree Zalman led in aces with three each. Mya Friese had 20 kills. Brinlie Durbin finished with 33 assists and 11 digs. Kenzie Thompson had one solo block.<\/p>\n

Sullivan was a winner in the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-19. The Hatchets fell to 4-1.<\/p>\n

The two teams split in freshman\/sophomore play. Windsor\/Stew-Stras won 25-21 and Sullivan came back to take the next set 25-15. WSS is now 4-3-2 on the season.<\/p>\n

At Farina<\/strong><\/p>\n

Altamont went three sets before pulling out a victory over South Central as two National Trail Conference teams met Monday.<\/p>\n

Altamont opened with a 26-24 victory. South Central rallied for a 25-21 win. Altamont then claimed the match, 25-18.<\/p>\n

Laila Hankins led the way in kills with seven, digs with 15 and blocks with two. Riley Rippetoe had 10 assists and one ace.<\/p>\n

South Central was led by River Yingst with 18 assists, Addisyn Sigrist with eight digs, Lauren Johnson with 10 kills and Maddie Peddicord with four aces.<\/p>\n

The Cougars drop to 3-9 on the season.<\/p>\n

In junior varsity play, South Central won 25-23, 25-14. The Cougars also claimed the freshman\/sophomore match, 25-13, 25-23.<\/p>\n

St. Elmo\/Brownstown remains unbeaten in the Egyptian Illini Conference after the Eagles downed Ramsey, 25-18, 25-12 Monday night.<\/p>\n

The conference win moves St. Elmo\/Brownstown to 3-0 in EIC play and 7-3 overall.<\/p>\n

Peyton Barker led the Eagles with one block and 10 digs. Chloe Austin and Ariana Kistler also had one block. Addie Sasse and Macey Sapp led in assists with nine each. Presley Williams had 10 digs and seven kills.<\/p>\n

St. Elmo\/Brownstown will move to National Trail Conference action tonight, playing host to Dieterich.<\/p>\n

Dieterich lost the opening contest to Mulberry Grove 25-18 but came back with 25-21, 25-13 scores for the match victory Monday.<\/p>\n

Aliza Garner led in aces with 12 for the Maroons. Mariah Muhs led in digs with four. Lydia Wohltman had five kills. Lydia Fuesting led in assists with seven. Allie Uthell had six blocks.<\/p>\n

Dieterich is now 5-7 on the season.<\/p>\n

At Meridian<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meridian came calling and swept all three matches over Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Meridian won the varsity contest, 25-12, 25-20. CHBC dropped to 2-8 on the season. The Bobcats were led by Zoe Sarver, Allison Shields, Carissa Wakefield and Ethel Stuckemeyer with one kill each. Shields with two aces. Gracie Wright with four assists and six digs and Wakefield with one block.<\/p>\n

Meridian won the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-8 and the freshman\/sophomore contest 25-22, 25-10.<\/p>\n

Newton fell to Carmi in varsity competition but won the junior varsity match Monday.<\/p>\n

The Eagles lost the opening set in varsity play, 25-15 but came back to win 25-18. But the Eagles lost the match 25-17 to drop to 6-8.<\/p>\n

Schackmann led in aces with four and blocks with three. Pitcher also had three blocks. Brooks led in assists with 11. Schafer had 17 digs.<\/p>\n

Newton won the junior varsity match, 25-18, 25-16. The two teams split freshman\/sophomore play. Carmi won the opener 25-15 but Newton came back with a 25-12 win.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are back in action tonight against Charleston with a 5 p.m. freshman start.<\/p>\n

Madelynn Frankie led Neoga in blocks with seven. Chloe Frankie had 19 assists. Joselyn Henderson and Malory Henderson had two aces each. M. Henderson led in kills with eight. Emily Frankie led in digs with 15.<\/p>\n
