Effingham and Windsor\/Stewardson-Strasburg hosted the Crossroads Classic Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n

In Friday action, the Hearts fell to Center Grove, 25-18, 25-16 and Belleville Althoff, 25-22, 17-25, 25-8.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras won over Nerinx Hall, 25-23, 21-25, 25-18 and Minooka 25-14, 25-13.<\/p>\n

In Saturday play, the Hearts competed in the Bronze Flight, winning over Champaign Centennial, 25-15, 25-15.<\/p>\n

EHS then competed in the third place match and won 25-19, 25-17 over St. Louis Nerinx Hall.<\/p>\n

“We are playing really good volleyball against quality teams,” said EHS Coach Laurie Bohnhoff. “Our current record is 4-6.<\/p>\n

Chatham Glenwood was the champion of the Bronze Flight beating Fairfield, 25-15, 25-15.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras competed in the Silver Flight and lost to Edwardsville, 25-10, 25-16 and Sacred Heart 27-29, 29-27, 15-12.<\/p>\n

The Hatchets played for eighth place in the Silver Flight and fell to North Oldham, 25-11, 25-17 to finish ninth.<\/p>\n

“I’m proud of how the girls fought all weekend,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “Making it to Silver with the competition we had is something to hold our heads high about. The girls played through multiple lineups and worked really hard. We did a lot of great things and will continue to add on to that.”<\/p>\n

Winning the Silver Flight was Wheaton St. Francis over Edwardsville, 25-17, 25-16.<\/p>\n

The Gold Flight went to St. Charles North over Breese Mater Dei, 25-23, 25-20.<\/p>\n

Third place was claimed by Greenwood Center Grove over Minooka, 18-25, 25-10, 25-19.<\/p>\n
