CHARLESTON — Effingham High School downed Charleston by a 7-2 tally in tennis action Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Hearts’ Eva Wendling was a winner at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-2, 6-0. Elle Keller went three sets to claim the No. 3 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6. Ava Rogers won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.\u00a0 Blanking their opponents 6-0, 6-0 were both Addy Hemrich and Emma Knaus at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.<\/p>\n

In doubles play, Keller and Wendling combined at No. 2 for the 6-2, 6-0 victory. Knaus and Makenna Smith won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.<\/p>\n

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Richland County, Olney and blanked the Tigers, 9-0 Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs easily swept through singles play. Mia Kinkelaar was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at the top spot. Liv Hoene won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 while Ellie Link took No. 3, 6-0, 6-4. Nora Trupiano downed her opponent 6-1, 6-0 while Morgan Stephens was a 6-3, 6-2 winner. Ivy Dalber finished out at\u00a0 No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.<\/p>\n

In doubles play, Kinkelaar and Link won 6-0, 6-1. Hoene and Trupiano combined to claim a 6-1, 6-1 win. Rylan Boggs and Avery Jones took No. 3, 6-3, 6-1.<\/p>\n
