Effingham Junior High School Wins Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n

Effingham Junior High School defeated Marion by an 8-5 count to win the championship of its own junior high baseball tournament Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs had blanked the Richland County, Olney Cubs by a 10-0 count.<\/p>\n

Effingham had seven hits led by Deek Thompson with a home run and two RBI and Roman Martin with a single, double and two RBI. Peyton O’Dell added a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n

Calvin Beck went 3.2 innings on the mound. He gave up two hits, three walks and struck out six in the win.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs then won the invitational by defeating Marion by an 8-5 score.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs had six hits and were aided by four Marion errors.<\/p>\n

Beck led the way with two doubles and an RBI. Martin had two singles and an RBI while O’Dell added a double. Thompson chipped in with two singles and Brody Nelson added a single and two RBI.<\/p>\n

Thompson went three innings on the mound for the win. He gave up two runs on four hits, two walks and struck out six.<\/p>\n

Effingham is now 7-1-1 on the season.<\/p>\n

Effingham St. Anthony finished second at the Greenville Tournament Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Bullpups trounced St. Boniface & St. Mary’s by a 16-1 count in four innings.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony players had their bats on target with 13 hits. Parker Phillips led with a single, home run and three RBI while Sam Vineyard contributed two singles, a double and three RBI, Reed Schumacher three singles and an RBI, Kolin Kiefer a double and an RBI, Eli Bales two singles and an RBI and Jaxon Having a single and an RBI. Brooks Niebrugge added an RBI.<\/p>\n

Schumacher went the distance, giving up one run on two hits, two walks while striking out five.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis split victories at the Greenville Tournament.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes fell in the opener to Vandalia, 8-6 but almost came all the way back.<\/p>\n

The Shoes had taken a 3-0 lead in the second inning but Vandalia went on a tear, scoring seven runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. T-town tallied a run in the bottom of the fifth to pull within 8-4. They rallied in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.<\/p>\n

Maddux Pals had two singles while Bryson Meyer had a single and four RBI.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis pounded St. Boniface & St. Mary’s by a 13-3 count.<\/p>\n

The Shoes finished with nine hits and Boniface had six errors and gave up six walks.<\/p>\n

T-town was led by Pals with two singles and three RBI, B. Witges with a two singles and an RBI. A. Borries and S. Donsbach with a single and an RBI each. Wermert added an RBI.<\/p>\n

Stewardson-Strasburg stepped out to a 2-0 opening inning lead, tacked on two more in the third and one in the fourth for a 5-0 victory over Arthur-Lovington\/Atwood-Hammond. Saturday.<\/p>\n

The winners had five hits in the contest led by Noah Friese with two singles, Garrett Worman and Adam Pruemer with a single and an RBI each and Johnny Richter with two RBI.<\/p>\n

Two pitchers combined for a no-hitter. Pruemer tossed the victory. He went 3.67 innings, not giving up a run or hit, allowing three walks and striking out seven. Johnny Richter came on to go three innings, giving up two walks while striking out seven.<\/p>\n

Maddux Pals drove in four runs on four hits to lead Teutopolis past Flora Floyd Henson, 14-6 Monday.<\/p>\n

Pals singled in the sixth scoring two, doubled in the third scoring one and singled in the fourth scoring one.<\/p>\n

T-town got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Floyd Henson committed an error and Mason Giles lined out, each scoring one run. Flora Floyd Henson then tied in the top of the second.<\/p>\n

In the bottom of the third, the Shoes broke up the tie when Pals doubled, scoring a run. Finley Witges followed with a single to extend the lead to 4-2.<\/p>\n

But here came Flora again, tying the game in the top of the fourth.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Pals singled, scoring one run to give the Shoes a 5-4 lead. But Flora went back into the lead in the top of the fifth.<\/p>\n

The Shoes then put the game out of reach in the bottom fo the fifth thanks to singles by Aidan Borries, Louie Niebrugge and Bryson Meyer.<\/p>\n

Conner Althoff earned the win giving up three hits, two runs over two innings, walking none and striking out two.<\/p>\n

At Teutopolis<\/strong><\/p>\n
