Effingham Junior High School pushed its record to 4-0 on the softball season by pounding Charleston, 14-0 in four innings Monday.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs ripped out to a 10-0 opening inning lead then added on four more runs in the second.<\/p>\n

Effingham had 16 hits as Cloie Bailey held the Trojans to one hit. Bailey finished with seven strikeouts and did not allow a walk.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Mustangs’ Tinley Patton had a single, home run and drove in four, Liv Lauritzen had a single, double and three RBI and Mackynzie Hites a single, triple and an RBI. Bailey and Madalyn Hoffman had three singles and an RBI each, Miley Wilson two singles and Mia Hartke and Amy Gouchenouer a single and an RBI each.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/StewardsonStrasburg held off South Central for a 7-6 victory Monday.<\/p>\n

South Central moved into a 2-1 opening inning lead and led 4-3 after three. The Hatchets came back with a three-run fourth to move ahead 6-4.<\/p>\n

South Central pulled within 6-5 in the top of the fifth but Windsor\/Stew-Stras scored another run in the bottom of the frame. South Central then rallied again, but fell short in the top of the seventh with a run.<\/p>\n

Windsor\/Stew-Stras had seven hits led by KJ Althoff with two singles, Reese Stigers with a single and two RBI and Miranda Corrie and Maddy Manhart with a single and an RBI each. Hayden Reed added an RBI.<\/p>\n

Corrie went five innings for the win on the mound. She allowed five runs on six hits, six walks while striking out 12.<\/p>\n

South Central had eight hits but finished with six errors. Skylar Webster had two singles, a triple and two RBI while Rylan Williams added two singles and two RBI, Jayda Neilson two singles and Bella McDonald a single and an RBI.<\/p>\n

Effingham St. Anthony broke a 1-1 tie with a six-run second and went on for a 17-10 win over Mulberry Grove Monday.<\/p>\n

The Bullpups banged out 12 hits. Elle Bierman had two doubles and drove in five runs while Mary Hoke added a double and two RBI. Reagan Niebrugge had a single and double. Morgan Lustig and Lily Bloemer had two singles and an RBI each and Isabella McDonald and Luci Monical finished with a single and an RBI each.<\/p>\n

Taylor Huebner held Mulberry Grove to only three hits but gave up 14 walks. She struck out seven in the win on the mound.<\/p>\n
