A festive atmosphere surrounded the start of the Torch Run for Special Olympics in downtown Effingham Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The group of Special Olympians on hand for the kickoff to the run was complemented by a number of law enforcement officers who either took part in the run or were cheering others on. Those who start the leg in Effingham carry the torch to Lake Land College. The end goal is Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal, where the State Special Olympics games will be held.<\/p>\n
