HIGHLAND — Teutopolis High School opened its stay at the 38th Annual Apex Network Physical Therapy Highland Girls Basketball Tournament with a victory Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Wooden Shoes easily downed Triad, 52-36. T-town edged out to an 12-11 opening quarter lead as Chloe Probst connected for four baskets, one a three-pointer, scoring nine of the team’s points. Malea Helmink chipped in with a basket and Molly Ruholl a free throw.<\/p>\n

Triad came back with a 15-10 second quarter run to lead 26-22 at halftime. Thompson hit two three-pointers and Witham had a basket and three free throws.<\/p>\n

But the Wooden Shoes went on a 13-7 third period run behind C. Probst’s three baskets and two of two at the line for eight.<\/p>\n

The Shoes finished out with an 18-3 final quarter as four players scored. Anna Probst connected on two three-pointers and C. Probst added four more points.<\/p>\n

Probst finished with 21 points on eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of six at the line. A. Probst also hit double figures with 12.<\/p>\n

C. Probst led in rebounds with 12. Helmink had one assist.<\/p>\n

In other games, Breese Central beat Waterloo, 57-40; Edwardsville downed Glenwood, 40-24; Highland edged Carlyle, 44-43; O’Fallon downed Okawville, 44-31; Nashville pounded Collinsville, 60-24; Bethalto Civic Memorial handed Centralia a 52-40 loss and Breese Mater Dei beat Belleville East, 52-46.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis will return to action Tuesday and take on Nashville in a 7 p.m. contest.<\/p>\n
