Effingham was a 43-12 winner over Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high boys eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs zipped out to a 17-0 opening quarter lead as Joel Flack scored 12 points while Dagg Thompson added a three-pointer.<\/p>\n

EJHS led 27-8 at halftime as Thompson connected on another three-pointer and Cameron Moon scored a basket and a free throw.<\/p>\n

Flack finished with 17 points to lead Effingham. Moon chipped in with seven.<\/p>\n

The Shamrocks were led by Hayes with five points.<\/p>\n

In the seventh-grade contest, Effingham edged Sacred Heart, 42-40.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs held a 9-8 opening quarter lead but Sacred Heart came back with a 14-9 second period to lead 22-18 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Effingham then had a 14-6 third period run as Calvin Beck knocked in six points and four others players scored two points each.<\/p>\n

The Shamrocks had a 12-10 final quarter but couldn’t overcome that third quarter run by Effingham.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs were led by Jared Klingler with 12 points and Calvin Beck with 10.<\/p>\n

Sacred Heart was led by Gabe Traub with 29 points on 12 field goals and four of four at the line. He hit one three-pointer.<\/p>\n

St. Elmo\/Brownstown was a winner over Dieterich in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In the seventh-grade contest, St. Elmo\/Brownstown won 38-21. SEB edged out to a 7-5 opening quarter lead and led 15-6 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Two players scored in double figures for the winners. Schaub tallied 20 while Schufflebeam added 11.<\/p>\n

Dieterich was led by McQueen with seven.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, SEB won 33-19. SEB ran out to a 19-5 halftime lead and never looked back.<\/p>\n

Wilhour scored seven for the winners.<\/p>\n

Dieterich was led by Uthell with seven.<\/p>\n

At St. Elmo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cowden-Herrick\/Beecher City and Sigel St. Michael split victories Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

CHBC was a winner in the seventh-grade matchup, 34-23. CHBC edged out to a 6-5 opening quarter lead and led 21-12 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Ely Hoene scored nine for the winners while Drake Thull chipped in with eight.<\/p>\n

St. Michael was led by Walk with eight.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade game, the Sharpshooters won 43-37 in overtime. CHBC led 22-19 at halftime and held a 31-26 lead going into the final period. St. Michael tied the score and won in overtime.<\/p>\n

Ordner led the way for the winners with 13 points while  Ballinger added nine.<\/p>\n

CHBC was led by Kaisyn Calame with 13.<\/p>\n

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest, 38-9. Stew-Stras held a 22-5 halftime lead.<\/p>\n

Pruemer scored 18 for the winners.<\/p>\n

Neoga was led by Matusas with three.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras led 26-2 at halftime and went on for a 41-12 victory.<\/p>\n

Two players hit double figures. Vonderheide led with 12 while Friese added 10.<\/p>\n

Myles Hoene scored 10 while Brock Witges and Mzx Bloemer tallied seven each.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town won 42-23. The Shoes led 31-13 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Probst scored 11 for T-town while Schmidt added nine.<\/p>\n

Altamont took a 20-14 halftime lead in the seventh-grade contest and finished out with a 37-26 win.<\/p>\n

Jack Neu led the way in scoring with 12 points while Peyton O’Dell added seven.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont claimed a 30-16 victory.<\/p>\n

Ramsey held a 9-5 opening quarter lead but Altamont came back with am 11-2 second period run to lead 16-11 at halftime. Altamont then had a 14-5 second half.<\/p>\n

Logue scored 14 for the winners while Bannister added seven.<\/p>\n

Jasper County edged Lawrenceville 43-39 in the LEIC Tournament Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Jasper County trailed Lawrenceville 14-12 after the opening quarter and 29-20 at halftime. But the squad came back with a 12-2 third period run and moved ahead 32-31 and finished with an 11-8 final quarter.<\/p>\n

Cambell Ulm led the way for the winners with 15 points while Hank Huber added 10. Huber was the top rebounder. Chase Kistner was the top defender and top passer.<\/p>\n

Jasper County improved to 8-7 and returns to aciton tonight at Hutsonville against Paris Mayo.<\/p>\n
