ffingham Sacred Heart was a winner in two junior high school boys basketball games against Dieterich Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

The Shamrocks pounded Dieterich in the seventh-grade contest, 63-10.<\/p>\n

Sacred Heart ran out to a 40-6 halftime lead and never looked back.<\/p>\n

Five players finished in double figures. Logan Schoenhoff led with 13 followed by Bryce Hayes with 11 and Lucas McDevitt, Chris Kenter and Gabe Traub with 10 each.<\/p>\n

Dieterich was led by Goeckner with eight.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, Sacred Heart won 40-16.<\/p>\n

The Shamrocks held a 20-11 halftime lead then had a 20-5 second half run.<\/p>\n

Traub led the way with 14 points while Mason Karolewicz added 10.<\/p>\n

Dieterich was led by Goeckner with eight.<\/p>\n

At Effingham<\/strong><\/p>\n

Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Shelbyville and picked up two easy boys junior high basketball victories Thursday.<\/p>\n

In the seventh-grade contest, the Bullpups were 42-18 winners. St. Anthony held an 18-10 halftime lead then had a 24-8 second half run.<\/p>\n

R. Schumacher led the way with 11 points while G. Bloemer chipped in with 10.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony claimed a 47-11 victory.<\/p>\n

The Bullpups ripped out to a 10-0 opening quarter lead and led 21-3 at halftime.<\/p>\n

S. Looman was the lone player in double figures with 12 for St. Anthony but nine scored in the contest.<\/p>\n

At Shelbyville<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Effingham<\/strong><\/p>\n

Effingham downed Altamont in both seventh- and eighth-grade contests Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

In the seventh-grade game, the Mustangs’ Deek Thompson went on a run, scoring 19 points through three quarters in the 60-27 victory.<\/p>\n

Thompson did not score in the opening quarter as Effingham edged out to a 12-9 lead. The Mustangs went on a 20-9 second period tear to lead 32-18 at halftime as Thompson scored 11. EJHS then had a 28-9 second half and Thompson finished out with eight points in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

Jared Klingler also ended in double figures with 11. Will Schuler chipped in with nine, all in the final quarter.<\/p>\n

Altamont was led by Jack Neu with nine and Peyton O’Dell with eight.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham was a 59-8 winner.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs held a 28-1 halftime lead.<\/p>\n

All 12 players scored for Effingham in the contest. The Mustangs were led by Brody Brown with 12 and Kaden Rohr and Jenner Keyes with eight each.<\/p>\n

Xavier Beckwith led Altamont with four points.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis captured two victories over Stewardson-Strasburg in Thursday evening action.<\/p>\n

In the seventh-grade contest, T-town held a 30-18 halftime lead and went on for a 50-30 victory.<\/p>\n

Giles scored 14 points while Meyer added 10 for the Wooden Shoes.<\/p>\n

Stew-Stras was led by Johnny Richter with 12 and Adam Pruemer with 11. It was the first loss for Stew-Stras this season as the squad sports a 15-1 record.<\/p>\n

In the eighth-grade game, T-town was a 54-18 winner. The Shoes held a 30-11 halftime lead and had a 22-4 third period run.<\/p>\n

Probst scored 21 points on nine field goals, three from beyond the arc. Niemerg added 10 and Goeckner nine.<\/p>\n

Stew-Stras was led by Sawyer Kaufman with five. The team dropped to 11-4 on the season.<\/p>\n

CHBC was a 28-17 winner in the seventh-grade contest. Neoga held a 6-5 opening quarter lead but CHBC came back and led 12-10 at halftime then had a 16-7 second half run.<\/p>\n

Drake Thull scored 19 on nine field goals and one of two at the line.<\/p>\n

Neoga was led by Matusas with six.<\/p>\n

In eighth-grade action, CHBC won 34-13 by tearing out to an 18-0 opening quarter lead.<\/p>\n

Zach Bennett scored 13 on six field goals and a free throw. Kaisyn Calame chipped in with nine.<\/p>\n

Neoga was led by J. Strobl with four.<\/p>\n
