Girls Tourney, St. A Third, EHS Fifth"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"javascript: window.print()\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_self\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thexradio.com\/news\/wp-content\/plugins\/pdf-print\/images\/print.png\" alt=\"image_print\" title=\"Print Content\" \/><span class=\"pdfprnt-button-title pdfprnt-button-print-title\">Print<\/span><\/a><\/div><p>CHARLESTON &#8212; Teutopolis High School won the championship of the Coles County Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Wooden Shoes beat Galesburg 51-41 in the title contest.<\/p>\n<p>T-town edged out to a 12-9 opening quarter lead behind Chloe Probst&#8217;s two three-pointers and two free throws for seven. Probst connected on another three-pointer in the second quarter as the Shoes had an 11-10 edge to lead 23-19 at halftime.<\/p>\n<p>T-town then had a 28-20 second half to finish out the with the victory.<\/p>\n<p>C. Probst finished with 17 points on five field goals, four from beyond the arc, and three of six at the line. Kelsey Niemerg added 12 points and Malea Helmink 11.<\/p>\n<p>The Shoes were led in rebounds by Helmink with 12 and in assists with two. She also had two blocked shots. and took two charges in the contest.<\/p>\n<p>In the third place game, St. Anthony trailed Mahomet-Seymour after the opening quarter but came back with a 15-8 second period to lead 23-17 at halftime.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy Ruholl provided six points in the opening quarter and six on two three-pointers in the second period.<\/p>\n<p>Ruholl had six points in the third quarter and then knocked in four three-pointers for 12 in the final period. She finished with 30 points on 11 field goals, six from three-point range, and two of two at the line. Ady Rios finished with nine points.<\/p>\n<p>In the fifth place contest, Effingham easily handled Sullivan by a 67-39 count.<\/p>\n<p>The Hearts ripped out to an 18-7 opening quarter lead as Averie Wolfe scored eight points and Alyssa Martin five.<\/p>\n<p>Bella Austin took over in the second period with six points and the Hearts held a 38-20 halftime lead.<\/p>\n<p>Four players scored in the third period for the Hearts as they held a 51-30 lead going into the final quarter and finished out with a 16-9 run. Bria Beals connected on two three-pointers in the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Three players finished in double figures for the Hearts. Martin had four field goals and four free throws for 12 points while Wolfe had four field goals, two from three-point range, and two free throws also for 12. Beals chipped in with 11.<\/p>\n<p>In other scores, Central beat Charleston 52-51, Effingham won over Marion 56-34 and T-town beat St. Anthony 50-35. Danville downed Jacksonville 41-34, Sullivan beat Mattoon 48-34 and Galesburg downed Mahomet-Seymour 60-25.<\/p>\n<p>Marion beat Mattoon 61-30 for seventh place. Champaign Central won over Danville 54-35 for ninth place and Charleston downed Jacksonville 53-38 for 11th place.<\/p>\n<p>In Friday games, St. Anthony beat Charleston 59-19, T-town won over Central 65-26, St. Anthony downed Effingham 47-38, Marion beat Central 55-38, Effingham trounced Charleston 73-14 and Teutopolis edged Marion 56-55 at Charleston High School.<\/p>\n<p>At Mattoon High School, Mattoon beat Jacksonville 51-19, Galesburg downed Danville 65-14, Mahomet-Seymour won over Jacksonville 55-22, Sullivan downed Danville 48-28, Mahomet-Seymour beat Mattoon 56-38 and Galesburg won over Sullivan 60-31.<\/p>\n<p>Named to the All-Tournament Team from St Anthony were Nancy Ruholl and Addi Nuxoll. Effingham players named were Alyssa Martin and Averie Wolfe.
