CHARLESTON — Effingham St. Anthony High School’s Isabella Keller captured the championship of the 3200 Saturday at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Stadium.<\/p>\n

Keller finished first in the 3200 with a time of 10:20.92 minutes. She also finished fourth in the 1600 in 4:58.80.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs’ Reese Hoene was busy during the day. Hoene claimed second place in the long jump with a leap of 5.45 meters. She finished fourth in the 400 in 57.26 seconds and was 11th in the 200 in 12.58.<\/p>\n

“Reese broke two school records at the State meet,” said St. Anthony Coach Randy Blake. “Thursday she broke the 200m record again at 25.82. Then Saturday\u00a0 she broke the 400m record again at 57.26. Isabella had a season best time in both of her races, 10:20.92 in the 3200, and 4:58.80 in the 1600.”<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs finished fourth as a team with 43 points. El Paso Gridley won the team title with 56 points followed by Tuscola 49 and Glen Carbon Father McGivney 48.<\/p>\n

Aubrey Denning also aided the Bulldogs with a fifth place finish in the 1600 in 5:07.06 minutes.<\/p>\n

Newton finished eighth as a team. Sydney Kinder took fourth place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.97 meters. Karasyn Martin took fourth in the pole vault at 3.40 meters while Camryn Martin was fifth at 3.40 meters.<\/p>\n

The Eagles also had two relay teams competing. The 4×200 relay team finished fifth in 1:47.88 minutes. Members of the team were Makayla McVicar, Morgan Schafer, Sydney Kinder and Stella Schackmann. The 4×100 relay of McVicar, Schafer, S. Kinder and Schackmann finished seventh in 50.35 seconds.<\/p>\n

Teutopolis High School’s Ella Neihls was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.91 meters.<\/p>\n

North Clay’s Brook Koelm finished 19th in the 3200 in 12:10.24.<\/p>\n

Only one area competitor reached the finals of the Class 2A State Meet.<\/p>\n

Effingham High School’s Keagyn Koenig captured second place in the shot with a throw of 11.49 meters.<\/p>\n

Other Effingham competitors did not reach the second day of Finals. Camdyn Burgholzer was 16th in the high jump at 1.55 meters. Kylie Pryor finished 14th in the pole vault at 3.10 meters just missing the finals.<\/p>\n

Jessica Larsen finished 13th in the 800 prelims with a time of 2:19.62, missing the finals by one spot. Emery Spicer was 21st in the 800 in 2:23.19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
