TOLONO UNITY — Three Effingham High School boys will be heading to the Class 2A State Track Meet after qualifying Thursday at the Tolono Unity Sectional.<\/p>\n

Maxx Kistler placed second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.77 seconds. Alex Gordon also picked up a second place finish, this one in the 800 with a time of 1:59.63 minutes. Weldon Dunston finished third in the 200 with a time of 22.34 which reached the State qualifying standard. Three weeks ago, Dunston broke Effingham High School’s 60-year-old school record in the 200 and then once again broke it in the Tolono Unity Sectional with 22.34 seconds.<\/p>\n

The Hearts finished sixth over all as a team. Richland County, Olney won with 137.5 points followed by Mount Zion 103, Tolono Unity 101.5, St. Joseph-Ogden 58, Monticello 42.33, Effingham 41.5, Salem 38.67, Charleston 36.5,\u00a0 Mattoon 28, Robinson 27, Decatur MacArthur 23, Paris 21, Urbana 21, Rantoul 18 and Decatur Eisenhower 5.<\/p>\n

The Class 2A State Meet will begin Friday, May 30 with preliminaries. Finalists will advance to Saturday, May 31 finals.<\/p>\n
