MAROA — Effingham Junior High School’s eighth-grade boys track team claimed the sectional championship Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs won with 98.83 points followed by Tolono Unity 72, Teutopolis 56, Maroa-Forsyth 52, Robinson Nuttall 45.5, Sullivan 43.33, Monticello 40, Jasper County 37.83, Shelbyville Moulton 36, Clinton 26, Warrensburg-Latham 24.5, Pana 13 and Lawrenceville Parkview 1<\/p>\n

Qualifying from the boys meet for Effingham were Bryden Kade, Braxton Osborne, Joel Flack and Kellen Richmond on the eighth-grade 4×200 relay team that won with a time of 1:41.11.\u00a0 The 4×400 eighth-grade relay team of Cameron Moon, Xzaviour Layne, Joel Flack and Kellen Richmond won in 3:53.84 minutes.<\/p>\n

The 4×100 eighth-grade relay team of Moon, Mason Overbeck, Layne and Kael Allison won in 48.60 seconds to advance.<\/p>\n

Also heading on to State are Moon in the eighth-grade high jump with a fourth place finish at 1.72 meters and Jared Klingler who took second in the 1600 in 5:09.28 minutes.<\/p>\n

Qualifying for the Teutopolis boys were Owen Lynch second in the 400 in 55.88, Blake Niemerg second in the 800 meters in 2:15.40. Dalton Willenborg in the shot with a qualifying throw of 10.69, Connor Althoff in the pole vault second in 2.51 and Jacob Hemmen reaching the state qualifying standard in eighth at 2.36.<\/p>\n

Jasper County’s Brendan Emmerich qualified in the high jump at 1.72 and took first in the long jump at 5.25.<\/p>\n

Qualifying for the Mustangs in the girls meets were eighth-grader Abby Johnson with a first place finish in the 800 in 2:28.98 minutes and a first place finish in the 1600 in 5:28.75 minutes.<\/p>\n

Also advancing in eighth-grade action were Rylee Holland in the 400 with an eighth-place qualifying time of 1:06.03. Holland, Cloie Bailey, Anna Gouchenouer and MacKendra Anderson will be competing on the eighth-grade 4×200 relay after finishing second with a time of 1:58.15. Holland,\u00a0Alayna Wade, Olivia Koester and Abby Johnson finished second in 4:25.57 to advance.<\/p>\n

Individually Charlee Emmerich will be competing in the eighth-grade pole vault after winning with a vault of 2.28 meters.<\/p>\n

The seventh-grade 4×200 relay team of Aleece Lotz, April Martin, Alayna Wade and Olivia Koester advanced after finishing second in 1:58.15. Leah Ring will be competing in the seventh grade pole vault with with a fifth place finish at 2.13 meters, breaking the Effingham sixth-grade record again this season.<\/p>\n

T-town’s Isabella Niebrugge won the 400 in 1:03.30 to qualify for State and in the 100 hurdles with a first place finish in 16.57. Emily Murray finished fourth in the 400 in 1:04.99 to qualify for State.<\/p>\n

The T-town eighth-grade 4×100 relay team finished fourth with a qualifying time of 54.37. Team members were Lexi Hoene, Grace Martin, Stella Deters and NIebrugge. The 4×400 seventh-grade relay team was second in 4:33.80. Penelope Dnenis, Trista Pals, Olivia Tebbe and Emily Murray were team members.<\/p>\n
