The storm system that came through the Effingham area Thursday resulted in several crashes, at least one that resulted in injuries.
A crash occurred at 4:26pm on Southbound I-57 at the Watson/Mason interchange. That incident involved three vehicles, including at least one semi.
Two people in one of the vehicles were injured and were taken first to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, then to Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Another crash was reported at 5:23pm at the same location as the previous incident. State Police report that crash involved two semis. No one was injured, but I-57 southbound was closed at that location and was not re-opened until 8:02pm.
