(HAIL VISITED THE BISHOP CREEK AREA THIS AFTERNOON)

Storms visited the area shortly before 3pm Thursday, leaving a lot of hail in their wake.

There were no reports of any injuries or damage.

A funnel cloud was spotted near Dieterich and the storm sirens were sounded.

Effingham Unit 40 directed their buses to head for the nearest school buildings until the storms cleared. The buses were released about 3:35pm to finish their routes.

There were crashes between 4:30 and 5:30pm at and around the Watson-Mason interchange on I-57, believed caused by the fog from hail and warm temperatures.

The area receiving the most damage was Crawford County. Authorities have confirmed tornado touchdowns that resulted in damage to approximately 12 to 15 properties, including two total losses.

No fatalities were reported, but one individual was taken to the hospital for treatment.
