This program will tell stories of courageous Black citizens who distinguished themselves through military service to their country. \nFriday\, February 28 – Explore history on a walking tour \nThe 1908 Race Riot Walking Tour begins at 2 p.m.\, at the Lincoln statues at Sixth and Adams streets. The walking tour will take visitors through downtown Springfield near the Old State Capitol to learn about the destruction that took place in 1908.  \nSaturday and Sunday\, March 1st and 2nd – Explore history on a hike \nBlack History Cemetery Hikes begin at the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site at 2 p.m.\, in the historic Oak Ridge Cemetery. The hikes focus on Springfield’s Black community. Water and walking shoes are recommended. The tomb is at 1500 Monument Avenue.

The buy-in for the Hold ‘em style Poker Tournament is $100 and includes admission to Cheers! The tournament begins at 7 pm\, upstairs at The Foxmore.  \nA grand prize of four Cardinals Baseball tickets\, valued at $1\,500 and donated by Roy Schmidt Honda of Effingham\, will be awarded\, as well as several runner-up prizes.
