DESCRIPTION:HSHS St. Anthony’s Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness will be hosting the third annual Walk to End Parkinson’s Disease!  This event is free to everyone in the community\, of any age\, to come out and support those with Parkinson’s Disease.  Plus there will be bounce houses and activities for children\, as well as a free luncheon for all who attend/register\, provided by HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. \nDonations are appreciated\, with proceeds supporting the local Parkinson’s Support Group and creating new and exciting opportunities for those in the community navigating Parkinson’s disease. \nOnline registration is now open and strongly encouraged.  Day-of registration will be available\, however to receive a t-shirt on the day of the event\, each participating adult family member must register by April 15.  No child-size shirts are available. \nSchedule: \n9:00 – 10:00 am\, Registration (Day-Of) and T-Shirt Pickup\n10:00 – 10:30 am\, Opening Ceremonies\n10:30 – 11:00 am\, WALK!\n11:00 am – Noon\, Free Luncheon \nHSHS St. Anthony’s Physical Therapist Jessica Mottashed shared why she and her colleagues wanted to host this event again.  She said\, “Our rehabilitation team is passionately dedicated to Parkinson’s care\, having pursued specialized training in this field. SUMMARY:Teutopolis Monastery Museum Open
DESCRIPTION:The Teutopolis Monastery Museum celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.  There are 38 small rooms of displays open to visitors on Sunday\, May 4. \nThe hours are from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.  We recommend you come early to see the many unique and interesting articles on display.  Admission for adults is $5.00 and $1.00 for children. \nThe Museum is located on the second floor in the former Franciscan Novitiate building\, which is located behind St. Francis Church in Teutopolis.  An elevator is available for visitors who have difficulty with stairs. \nBesides its collection of articles used by the Franciscan Friars\, the Museum is also known for Bibles and books in different languages\, some from the 1700’s.  The “pioneer wing” features items used by early Teutopolis pioneers\, including furniture\, clocks\, quilts\, toys\, and various household and grocery store items.  These articles are on display in the former “cells” or bedrooms of the Novices.   Volunteers are available along the tour to explain the displays and assist visitors. \nAlso open to visitors are the basement where many small farm tools are displayed\, the Mausoleum where 79 Franciscan Friars are interred\, and St. Francis Church\, with stained glass windows depicting events in the life of St. Francis of Assisi. \nSpecial group tours for adults or school groups can be arranged on days other than the scheduled Sunday openings.  Call 217-961-6404 ext. 236\, leave a message and the call will be returned.  Regular\, scheduled museum opening dates are the first Sunday of the months of April through November\, except holidays. \nFor more information go to the parish website:  stfrancischurch.com or to the town’s website at www.Teutopolis.com and click on “Our Community”.  Follow us on Facebook this year as we recall the beginnings of the Museum in 1975-76.

SUMMARY:National Day of Prayer Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Our National Day of Prayer Breakfast will be held on Wednesday\, May 7th\, at 7:30 am at the Thelma Keller Convention Center.  This is an annual day of observance\, sponsored by local businessmen.  The breakfast is free and you are invited. \nAll attending will need a ticket.  Tickets are available at the studios of Classic Hits 979 XFM and KJ Country 102.3\, located at 206 South Willow Street\, and at the Tom Henderson State Farm office\, at 122 East Section Avenue in Effingham. \nWe’ll be led in music by Greg Sapp and Steve Raymond. \nOur guest speaker will be Dr. Nathan Jones\, a physician at Springfield Memorial Hospital and a participant in NASA’s Mars Simulation program. \nPlease come and hear Dr. Jones’ faith-based message. \nA love-offering will be taken and all the monies given will go to FISH and help support the great work they do in our community. \nAgain\, the breakfast is free\, so please pick up a ticket and come and join us in this National Day of Prayer Celebration. \n
