McKendree University saw its season come to an end this week at the NAIA Tournament in Kansas City, losing 73-70 to John Brown University in overtime.

Vandalia's Eric Hobbie closed out his McKendree career with 22 points and 11 rebounds.  St. Anthony graduate John Steppe finished with 13 points and four assists.  Flora's Ian Ridge did not play.

McKendree ended the season with a 27-7 record.

In high school baseball, Dieterich scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to nip Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick, 6-5 Friday.

BCCH scored four in the first but Dieterich scored two in the bottom of the frame.  BCCH got a run in the fifth to extend its lead to 5-2, but Dieterich got two in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.

Taran Bohnhoff got the win in relief for Dieterich, which was playing its season opener.  Drew Levitt took the loss in relief for BCCH, which is 1-1 on the season.

Rock's Advantage Auto won the Effingham Park District Friday Night Volleyball Tournament, downing St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in two games.  Greuel Dairy defeated Steffen Heating and Air-Conditioning in two games for third place.
