Junior High Volleyball -- Seventh-Grade Sectionals

St. Anthony claimed its own seventh-grade sectional Wednesday. Member of the Bullpups are, front row, left to right, Mary Louise Hoene, Veronica Sudkamp, RayAnna Nuxoll, Annabelle Weishaar, Cora Hartmann and Katie Thoele. Back row, left to right, Coach Sara Bernhard, Coach Kristie Bailey, Mia Kinkelaar, Liv Hoene, Gracie Slifer, Callie Emmerich, Vivyona Vaultonburg and Jada Carpenter.

Effingham St. Anthony, Sigel St. Michael and Jasper County claimed sectional championships Wednesday. There will be no state tournament this year.

The Bullpups downed Altamont, 25-17, 25-13 at their own Class 7-2A sectional.

Altamont ended the season with a 7-11 overall record. Rippetoe, Lurkens, Spar and Stock had two aces each. Rippetoe, Goeckner and Stock had two digs each. Rippetoe added two blocks.

Class 7-3A Jasper County Sectional

Jasper County picked up the championship of its own sectional Wednesday.

Jasper County defeated Robinson Nuttall, 25-15 in the opener. Nuttall came back with a 25-22 victory before Jasper County won the match, 28-26.

Holder had six aces for the winners and two assists, Reich nine kills and a block and Kidwell two digs.

Jasper County -- Holder, 6 aces, 1 kill, 2 assists, 1 dig; Deckard, 4 aces; Meinhart, 2 aces, 1 assist; Reich, 9 kills, 1 block; Michl, 3 kills; Will, 3 kills; Marshall, 1 kill; Kidwell, 2 digs; Mitchell, 1 dig

Class 1A Decatur Lutheran Sectional

Sigel St. Michael claimed the championship of this sectional by downing the host squad, Decatur Lutheran, 25-21, 27-25.
