Stewardson Trinity wins St. Anthony's Eighth Grade Tourney

Trinity wins over Windsor (20-12,20-10) Newton St. Thomas (20-9,20-13) and North Clay (20-9, 20-10) to make it to the championship game of the St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament where they met Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes.

Trinity took the first set 20-8 but lost the second set 20-13.  Serve receive errors hurt the Cardinals but they came from behind 9-2 to win the third set 15-13. Martina Gratz (sixth grader) served six consecutive serves to help rattle the opponents to gain the lead.

"It was a very intense game with tough competition that the Cardinals would like to play every day," said coach Ronda Schlechte.

The Cardinals will attend the Effingham Seventh Grade Tourney Saturday, February 15.  The eighth grade record is now 12-0.
