Stew-Stras Takes Second at Pana Tournament; Effingham Wins Consolation Bracket

Stewardson-Strasburg overcame a slow start to reach the championship match of the Pana Tournament Saturday before falling to Rochester.

The Comets lost in its first pool play match to Shelbyville, 25-23, 26-24 and then lost to Rochester in pool play 25-20, 25-20, before rebounding to win over Effingham 25-18, 25-11 and then defeat Pana 25-20, 25-19.

In a rematch with Rochester for the championship, Rochester won over Stew-Stras 25-23, 25-20.

Rochester defeated Effingham in the Hearts' first pool play match, 25-21, 25-14, but Effingham bounced back to defeat Shelbyville 25-22, 25-13.  Stew-Stras then won over Effingham to put the Hearts in the consolation bracket where they defeated Decatur LSA 25-13, 21-25, 15-2 and then defeated Neoga for consolation honors 25-15, 25-19.

Stew-Stras' Kendall Knop made the All-Tournament Team.
