Stew-Stras, Dieterich Capture Wins in Volleyball Action

STRASBURG -- Stewardson-Strasburg High School captured a volleyball victory over Arcola Monday evening, 25-12, 25-12. The victory gives the Comets a 3-0 record.

"Everyone seemed to be on tonight contributing to the win in some way," said Stew-Stras Coach Ronda Schlechte. "I'm very happy with team play and communication is getting better. Serving seemed dto be a strong point tonight. Offense and defense are both coming along nicely."

Becca Schlechte led in aces with four. Brittani Tabbert led the way with four kills. The dig category went to Kendall Knop with seven. Baylee Quast had eight assists.

In junior varsity play, Stew-Stras won 25-21, 25-19 to improve to 3-0.

At Dieterich

Dieterich went three games before pulling out a non-conference win over Oblong.

The Movin' Maroons won the opener 26-24 but Oblong came back to tie the match at 25-15. Dieterich then won 25-22 to pick up its first victory in three matches this season.

Faith Boerngen had nine points. Mallorie Vahling led in aces with three, digs with three and kills with eight. Mindy Bohnhoff had eight assists and Madison Boerngen led in blocks with three.

Dieterich won the junior varsity match 25-27, 25-16, 25-23.
