Trinity Wins First Round of Regionals

Stewardson Trinity won in the first round of the SIJHSAA regionals Tuesday.

Trinity downed St. Peter Lutheran, 25-7, 25-14 and improved to a perfect 28-0 on the season.

Zaida Wascher scored 14 points and led in aces with seven. Mya Friese had 17 kills. Kalia Friese led in assists with 11. M. Friese and Kenzie Thompson had one block each.

"The girls played very well tonight," said Coach Tammy Manhart. "This was the best serve receive and ballhandling game we have played in a while. It was very fun to watch.

"Tjhey played so well as a team, moving and talkng. We have been a strong offensive team all season but many times struggle with moving and passing but that was not the case tonight. I am excited to see how this group finishes the season."

Stewardson Trinity advanced to the championship match Thursday and will meet Iuka at 6 p.m.

Iuka downed Altamont Lutheran, 25-20 5-25, 25-7 to advance.
