Effingham St. Anthony swept St. Elmo/Brownstown in high school volleyball competition Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won the varsity match but lost the opening set 25-15. The Bulldogs then rallied for 25-20 and 25-13 counts for the match.

Andrea Rudolphi had 11 kills and three aces for St. Anthony. Abbi Hatton also had three aces. Lucy Fearday led in blocks with three. Maddie Kibler had 18 digs.

SEB was led by Laney  Baldrige with five kills and 13 digs, Peyton Garrard with two aces and six points and Jayna Ireland with two blocked shots.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-23 and the freshman/sophomore contest, 25-11, 25-20.

At Altamont

Altamont played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and was a winner in two sets Tuesday.

The Indians won 25-17, 25-14. Alyvia Wills led in kills with 10 and aces with two. Peyton Osteen had 20 assists. Briana Hassebrock had two aces, Kadence Wolff and Osteen led in digs with six each.

At Pana

Teutopolis fell to host Pana in the varsity match Tuesday evening, 25-22, 25-22. The Wooden Shoes drop to 8-12 on the season.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Sarah Niemerg with 13 digs, Emily Konkel with two blocks, Emma Deters with two aces, Sara Swingler with nine assists and Taylor Bueker with seven kills.

"We were up 15-10 in the second set and a ball was ruled to have been touched by a Shoe defender," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "This began a six point Pana run.

"We're so close to being what we are working towards. The difference in the match was four or five plays out of 80 or 90 of them. Those breaks went Pana's way tonight. We know what our issues are, just requires elbow grease, patience and time to improve them so that's what we'll aim for in practice this week."

In junior varsity play, Pana was a winner, 25-19, 25-22. T-town claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 25-16, 25-23.
