Sigel  St. Michael saw its season come to a close in opening round play of the Class 7-1A State Volleyball Tournament at Clinton Junior High School Friday.

The Sharpshooters fell to Augusta Southeastern, the eventual champion, by 25-18, 25-13 scores.

Cara Hatton had four points and one ace for St. Michael while Kaylie Jordan had one point. The Sharpshooters ended the season with a 21-1 record.

In other matches, Ottawa Marquette defeated Philo St. Thomas, 25-19, 25-15 while Pontiac St. Mary's won over Hartsburg-Emden, 26-24, 25-22 and Kewanee Visitation downed Decatur Lutheran, 16-25, 25-19, 25-15.

In semifinals Saturday, Augusta Southeastern defeated Ottawa Marquette, 25-8, 25-7 and Pontiac St. Mary's won over Kewanee Visitation, 25-14, 22-25, 25-10.

In the championship match, Augusta Southeastern defeated Pontiac St. Mary's, 25-16, 25-16. The third place conest went to Kewanee Visitation over Ottawa Marquette, 25-12, 25-14.
